Guest mcwarre Posted June 17, 2005 Report Posted June 17, 2005 Hi Im new here and im also new with smart phones. Is it possible so install windows mobile 2003 on a phone that alreday has windows mobile 2003? And is it also possible to update windows media player? Hi Welcome to the site ;) Why would you want to install a ROM on a machine with the same ROM? Do you want to reset it??? Windows media player cannot, at the moment, be upgraded; it is part of an OS upgrade.
Guest lil_shawn87 Posted June 18, 2005 Report Posted June 18, 2005 Oh i didnt know that..Cause Im new with smartphones. I used to own an nokia 3650 and it has symbian 60. And its totally different. Do you think its an good idea to buy an spv e100? And after updating the rom is more stable? Cause I had alot of problems with the nokia 3650. First it was fine but later on it would crash..
Guest Disco Stu Posted June 19, 2005 Report Posted June 19, 2005 The E100 is a pretty good phone but it's quite old now. I wouldn't pay more than £50 for one, although if I were in your shoes and had the cash / could get a good deal, I'd get a C500. You can get them free on the right contract. For starters the C500 is half the size / weight of the E100. I'm exaggerating but that's the impression you get. The E100 runs on Smartphone 2002 OS whereas the C500 is Windows Mobile 2003. You have to put a lot of effort in to crash the phone. If you get a new one it might have the latest ROM with WMP10, but then WMP9 isn't all that bad and there are free, better alternatives. Also you should know that a new version of the SPV range is coming out soon. I wouldn't bother attempting to put a 2003 ROM on the E100. In fact I don't even think I've heard of it being done successfully. Moved to Smartphone Help & Advice ;)
Guest tendomentis Posted June 20, 2005 Report Posted June 20, 2005 You could always grab a triband, unbranded MPx200 from simoncells.com. They go for about $190 USD over there and they can be upgraded from Windows Mobile 2002 to Windows Mobile 2003 quite easily. I use one heavily on a daily basis. It's my work and home email client (Push email is a glorious thing, it really is), my music player, my "Tivo"... oh yeah, and it also makes a good phone too ;) It's also a very LOW radiation producing phone. The only downsides....no camera (which works out fine or I wouldn't be able to use it at my office) and no bluetooth (okay, now that I DO miss).
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted June 20, 2005 Report Posted June 20, 2005 I would go for the C500 over the MPX200, as the MPX200 is out of date now, as for upgrading there are also no legal upgrades available for the MPX200 either.
Guest simon211175 Posted June 20, 2005 Report Posted June 20, 2005 the C500 is an excellent phone, and a worthy purchase at the price.
