I finally caved and bought a sim free Voda Qtek 8020, and I am astonished at how much more responsive and quicker it seems to the early C500 that I picked up.

However, I have noticed that it is still running WM9, which suggests old rom. I also seem to remember that there was talk of severl different new roms, with WMP10 on them floating around.

Anyone know if there is a suitable rom for my Qtek? and where/how would I go about getting it?

Thanks for your help

Much obliged. Now I just need to figure out how to get the damn thing on with a Mac...

Incidentally, I will be testing how it works with the new Salling Clicker 3.0 beta for those Mac lovers amongst you. Tests with a Nokia 8800 and 6230i have shown it to be the single best BT controller for the Mac - it is truly brilliant!

sure you will like the phone, not sure how much bother it will be using it with a mac rather than windows, sure someone else here will have relevant experience to comment.

Im just waiting impatiently for tomorrow to come and my sp3i to be delivered-i loved the c500 and am sure i will love the sp3i even more ;)

Thanks for the tips. Given that the Qtek site is scandinavian, I would be really really grateful for some step by step instructions on updating the rom using my work pc.

Also, will the rom bugger my phone? There is some suggestion that the swedish rom shouldn't be on the english phone - Voda site doesn't even mention the 8020...

Also a few more questions:

How do you hard reset a 8020? The C500 tips don't seem to work...and what will it do to my settings etc.

Additionally, I erased my voicemail speed dial (I am on O2 and it was set for Voda), but I can't recover it, nor can I get to use speed dial 1, which it says is "reserved". AAArgh...

Ok. The Swedish ROM is installed successfully, and the voicemail issues are resolved. All going very well except...

1. GPRS, once connected, remains connected, despite no apps using it. If I "disconnect" it, I then can't re-establish without rebooting the phone. Any way around that or an explanation of why?

2. With the Swedish ROM, I lose French T9, which is pretty important to me. Any way to import it in? or a French ROM as good as this one?

Loving the phone though...Beats the pants out of my 8800 which was all style and little substance. Also, it works incredibly well with Salling Clicker! Means I get my whole iTunes library etc controllable from the Qtek, plus I get cover art in colour on my screen! Very Very cool...

go the same problem as u.

mine was an O2 Xphone II and I turn it into Qtek 8020.

Yesterday it connects to GPRS... now it wont connect to iExplorer, not even MSN messenger. I double check my settings and all is fine.

It just connects to WAP pages using wap APN, but it wont go thru GPRS apn.
