Guest mindstreamer2003 Posted January 17, 2003 Report Posted January 17, 2003 I have had the phone for over a week and got to know the 156 spv dedicated phone help line staff really well unfortunately with many long but in the end fruitless calls . I still cannot get access to the internet although it works as a basic phone. I am on NTL and am using that as my e mail account but of course that won't function without a net connection I am locked on a roundabout. They won't sanction a replacement phone without a fault number and you can't have a fault number until they have determined whether it is the SIM card, the actual phone of account product based. If you get one and get it set up via 156 that is fine, but if it doesn't get you onto the net and beyond you are in for a very tortuous time trying to get them to fix it remotely by valiant call centre people who are tied to unhelpful internal policies . Technical services don't field calls directly and don't, it appears doing anything quickly, so a lot of advice is at best, second hand. There is a replacement phone on the dealers desk,but Orange won't let him give me that one. If all else fils, i have been promised a fult number and a new phone on Monday, but, infuriatingly, from Orange not the dealer up the road ! I am waiting for SIM updates as they are trying switching me out and back in to the products. Beth you are keen to buy the phone even tho you will have seen a lot of negtives on this site and if it works fine but i have yet to be convinced and I have already bought it. I'd wait a bit !

No other phone has as many features, although there are a few bugs its nothing that wont be fixed, especially with such as large community making a huge impact as it is. The community on modaco comes free with the phone, now tell me, which other phone comes with access to 2000+ other SPV owners to talk to and to gain assistance? For the cost its worth it, im finding MSN, Calender, and a few other things very valuable. Also the phone looks cool when i go into a meeting and put it on the desk amoung everyones Nokias.
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted January 17, 2003 Report Posted January 17, 2003 I would not be without it now. You can either just use the standard features or be like me and fiddle with everything ;) You don't have to be a techie like NXNM said we all help each other and get there in the end.
