Guest Deanus2004 Posted June 20, 2005 Report Posted June 20, 2005 Dropped my phone yesterday on the garden path and i thought it was fine, no scratches or cracks, but when i turned it off last night the power button is stuck down. I tried to free it but its not having anyof it. If i press it down really hard i can get the Quick start menu to turn it off but it just turns itself back on. Is this a job for orange or can i do anything (ie dismantle it) PLEASE HELP ;)
Guest mupwangle Posted June 20, 2005 Report Posted June 20, 2005 There are instructions in the forums somewhere about opening c500s. It is very easy (if you have a very small torx screwdriver set) except for the case above the camera which is very fiddly. Mind you, if you've scratched it then you probably wont care about scratching it more. Remember that the manuafacturer's warranty (if under 1 year old) is invalidated and so is any phone insurance as soon as you open it.
Guest Deanus2004 Posted June 20, 2005 Report Posted June 20, 2005 I dont want to scratch it too much but i think opening it is the only option as i have no insurance. I'll look for the opening a C500 thread. Dout i have a torx set with a bit that tiny.
Guest Confused Stu Posted June 20, 2005 Report Posted June 20, 2005 I've posted a guide to stripping the phone a couple of times - one's here: http://www.modaco.com/Dust_on_the_screen-t113219-s135.html and there's a really good guide on this site (I think better than mine): http://www.digimission.com/?page_id=25 In order to get the top cover off, I think there's a better way for those people without a handily placed dent in their casing (I dropped it!). It's basically using something small but blunt to push the plastic case at the loudspeaker backwards (away from the screen and keyboard). This releases the clips just above the camera lens and allows the clips up by the power button to just slide off. Unfortunately, this really is the most difficult part of the whole thing! Good luck mate. ;)
Guest Chiz Posted June 21, 2005 Report Posted June 21, 2005 the power button is stuck down. I tried to free it but its not having anyof it. Is this a job for orange or can i do anything (ie dismantle it) PLEASE HELPĀ ;) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I had a problem with the power button being stuck down. I put a new home screen on it and turned it off (by removing the battery) to turn it back on. I could not turn it on due to the button being stuck. Took it to Orange under warranty (4 months old). They sent it to HTC who said it was a faulty motherboard. Not the same problem though as yours seems to turn back on HTH
Guest Deanus2004 Posted June 21, 2005 Report Posted June 21, 2005 mine rectified itself after i to the smaller black casing off (the one with the windows logo on) might have just loosened the case and allowed it to pop back into place. Thanks people!
