Guest jr7887 Posted June 21, 2005 Report Posted June 21, 2005 Hi I am a new C500 user, and I'm trying to get it all set up with my other gadgets. The only thing I'm having problems with the Bluetooth connectivity: I have a Nokia CARK-112 in my car which the phone will see but during the pairing process it will no allow me specify this device as a handsfree device. In fact when I have paired it with my PC and GPS device it didn't ask me then either. I have a couple of friends who have C500's and theirs always ask if they want to use Bluetooth devices as handsfree devices. I must be missing a trick here or have an older software version. I have done the upgrade to the latest ROM from Orange but with no success. Has anyone got any ideas?? thanks Jamie
Guest Confused Stu Posted June 21, 2005 Report Posted June 21, 2005 Hi, and welcome to the forum! ;) Sorry I'm not here with a proper answer, but I can at least partially shed some light on a part of it. When you pair with another bluetooth device, the phone interrogates it and finds out if it can support being a hands-free kit. If the device reports it can be one, then the phone asks you - if it can't then it doesn't! This means that when I pair up with my PC, the phone asks if I want it as a hands-free (haven't tried it, but could be good for a laugh sometime!), but when I pair up with the other half's Samsung D500 it doesn't ask if that's a hands-free because the D500 reported it couldn't support that when the C500 was talking to it. Hope you get a proper answer to actually help with setting up the car kit, and hope this actually helps explain part of it. Good luck. :D
Guest jr7887 Posted June 22, 2005 Report Posted June 22, 2005 Hi Many thanks for the reply, what you said makes perfect sense, it is quite possible that on this older BT box that it does not reply properly to the interrogation of the C500. To substantiate this I have just tried pairing a friends C500 to my kit and it still does not allow for handsfree. However I tried pairing my C500 to the same friends Sony Ericsson HCB-30 car kit and it asked me if I wanted to use it as a handsfree device straight away. So, for the purpose of people searching through the forum out there, the SPV C500 does NOT work with the Nokia CARK-112, (unless anyone has managed to hack either of them somehow). Shame really, there is nothing broken about the box, but it looks like I might have to start scanning ebay for a new control box. all the best Jamie
