Guest dcstudios Posted January 17, 2003 Report Posted January 17, 2003 Firstly thank to the people who found out how to remove the stupid Orange protection. Great to see apps running. My problem is that since doing this I cannot get an SMS to send (if I try new message, nothing ever appears). Any ideas on fixing this? Thanks
Guest dcstudios Posted January 20, 2003 Report Posted January 20, 2003 I did (about 6 times now) and still it does not work. Orange passed the buck to Microsoft who passed me back. Still no-one knows and my trusty T68 has come back into use. Any more info would be good.
Guest madu Posted January 21, 2003 Report Posted January 21, 2003 well it looks like your SMS Service Centre number has been erased after the reset. goto settings> telephony> call options> scroll down to SMS service centre and type in: +447973100973 should work now
Guest frank-david Posted January 22, 2003 Report Posted January 22, 2003 same prob here in France! No solution yet... It's not a probleme with the sms message center number unfortunatly...
Guest Nicco Posted January 24, 2003 Report Posted January 24, 2003 AAAAHHHHH...... Same problem with mine: - Hard reset, seems OK - Manual configuration (GPRS, SMS message centre number...) - and... can't send SMS, nothing happens when I press 'new message' or 'reply' The SMS service center number is OK..... Impossible to send MMS too.... My phone is a french one, and I noticed another problem since the hard reset: the screen Parameters>Power Management> is weird, there is a color bar (as before) and 2 parameters (10000 and 2) which are impossible to edit (the phone says 'unable to save parameter'). Did anybody see this too? Thanx for help or ideas....
Guest spacemonkey Posted January 24, 2003 Report Posted January 24, 2003 OK... this might well relate to the "french method" of removing certification. When I was working on the method posted in the global message on this board, one of my early tries was to purge the entire certificate store. This stopped SMS etc working. The problem is that the default unlocked states only unlock the unprivileged end of the phone. The privileged end still needs valid certificates. (privileged is things like sending SMS, MMS GPRS etc). So the problem is that parts of the provxml files (in windows) need to be processed on the phone to populate the Orange certificates into the privileged certificate store on the phone. I would recommend that you try to unlock you phone by the message shown on this board, where you let the phone boot normally after a hard reset but substitute in edited provxml files. In windows remember to have show hidden/system files turned on or you might not see the provxml on your phone. Hope that helps.
Guest Nicco Posted January 24, 2003 Report Posted January 24, 2003 Yeah, It works ;)  :D :D !! Everything's back and my phone is unlocked!!! no more bugs!! To those who want to unlock their phone: DON'T use the french method (ie hard reset, and wait 15min at the PIN screen), it will all mess up. Thanx a lot, It was a strong piece of advice.. Thank you.....
Guest Arisme Posted January 26, 2003 Report Posted January 26, 2003 This is only 1/2 of the so-called French method ... don't trust everything you read in the news ;)
Guest castlebrae Posted February 13, 2003 Report Posted February 13, 2003 I am lost! When you say do a hard reset do you mean going through the whole unlocking proceedure again? I have succesfully unlocked, but there is no SMS, when I goto inbox and click on new nothing happens.
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted February 14, 2003 Report Posted February 14, 2003 castlebrae please don't cross post keep your questions in the same post then we can all follow what is happening.
Guest castlebrae Posted February 14, 2003 Report Posted February 14, 2003 awarner see pm, I tried everything that was suggest in the three threads, in different sub forums on MoDaCo. My sms numbers where correct, when I did a hard reset the same thing happened, again and again, eventually I gave up. However if anyone comes up with a solution, i will unlock again, because the unsigned apps are very impressive.
Guest Dylan Posted February 14, 2003 Report Posted February 14, 2003 Hi, I actually used the process on www.bornsloppy.co.uk (which from what I can see it's the same as what's posted on one of the forums) and I've had all the same problems as people have had here. I did a hard reset (deleted ISPM, etc) and then copied in the edited files (mxip something or other). I STILL CAN'T SMS!!! PLEASE HELP ME!!!
Guest almark Posted February 14, 2003 Report Posted February 14, 2003 I unlocked successfully but like many others I could not get SMS to work. The phone number was their, the G was displayed and the Internet worked, but no sms. As I use, or actually receive, sms regularily, I had to go back to the locked set up. It would seem that, the only solution so far is to keep trying untill it works.
Guest Dylan Posted February 19, 2003 Report Posted February 19, 2003 IT WORKS IT WORKS IT WORKS!!!!!!!!! I got fed up of not being able to SMS so I did a hard reset and copied the files. It didn't work so I tried and tried and tried and eventually (after about 6 resets) I got the timing right and it worked! For those who this didn't happen to, this IS a real problem, nothing to do with the SMS Service Center or any settings, it just doesn't work. Same as Orange Update no longer recognises the phone as being on the Orange network. If you've still got this problem the do a reset (after backing everything up of course) and then see if you can SMS. If you can (I could after just one reset) then do ANOTHER reset so you can do the unlocking process again. If you're determined enough (and you've got nothing better to do with your time) then it will work, just keep resetting!
Guest matt.waterton Posted February 20, 2003 Report Posted February 20, 2003 Had the same problem...got it working by doing a reset to the white screen (?!) pressing the action button to get to the loader.....going left twice or three times and pressing end.......seemed to work.....can send texts again now.... :) (v0.93)
Guest almark Posted February 23, 2003 Report Posted February 23, 2003 after the hard reset the ip address details in gprs were missing, they were all zero's and should have read primary dns 158.43.192.1 secondary dns 158.43.128.1 (This can be found under settings/ data connections then menu to 'edit connections' then select GPRS and scroll down I hope this helps. I will try to unlock again after the 'update'
