Guest xavalon Posted June 21, 2005 Report Posted June 21, 2005 Is there a way to resize the internal storage, also known as IPSM, to gain more RAM (or less). On my PPC 3870 I have a standard utility who does so. On my smartphone, a c500, the internal storage is around 21 MB in size. Since many of us have a external storage, and "data' like photos, ringtones etc. can be stored there, there is little need for such a large internal storage. 10MB would be more than suitable, and this would increase main memory by some 11MB (most of the smartphones have some 9MB RAM left after booting up, so it doubles).
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted June 27, 2005 Report Posted June 27, 2005 The Smartphone handles it's memory in a completely different way compared to a PPC. Unfortunately you can not alter the size of the Storage or physical memory as it is a set size.

I have a recently purchased Cingular 2125 and have discovered that the "IPSM" folder has very little room left (as reported by SP Task Manager). Can you please explain what that folder is and how to clean it up? Thanks...
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted March 12, 2006 Report Posted March 12, 2006 Have you updated your version of Task Manager as the 2125 does not have an IPSM, this folder was replaced by one called Storage with the 2003 operating system. As for the 2125 I am not sure of the file system as unfortunately I do not have a WM5 Smartphone at the moment.
