Guest freshjuice Posted June 21, 2005 Report Posted June 21, 2005 (edited) This looks like a great forum! I Sure hope you can help me out. I've literally wasted 3 hours trying to figure this out, and I'm at my wits end. This is what I'm trying to find: Must have (all critical!): - Syncs with Outlook 2003 (contacts, appointments, tasks; email not necessary) - Vibrating alert, PARTICULARLY for appointments, tasks, reminders (I’m ADHD) - GSM-Compatible (for T-Mobile) OR Verizon compatible - Best reception possible (I’m often in tele-meetings for an hour at a time) - Camera (quality can be crappy) - Voice Memo Would like (not necessary): - Under $150 (or $200 without plan activation) - Bluetooth Sync (but USB is fine) - No need to unlock (pain in the...) - Quad-band GSM - EasyRingtone Customization (via MP3 or wav) - Recording of Conversations (pref. without annoying beep) Completely Unneccessary: - Internet Browsing - Other Apps - Games - Fancy Graphic, etc The closest I could seem to find was the Audiovox 5600 (I'm in the U.S.), but that seems to be more than I need. THANK YOU IN ADVANCE! 8) Edited June 21, 2005 by freshjuice
Guest martin Posted June 21, 2005 Report Posted June 21, 2005 I would recommend the Audiovox 5600 ;) It's tri band GSM 850/1800/1900 but you won't really need GSM900 unless you are using it outside the US.

Guest freshjuice Posted June 21, 2005 Report Posted June 21, 2005 (edited) Sorry for a quick double-post here: I'm now considering a Nokia 6600, which is not technically a smart phone, but appears to sync well with Outllook 2003. Also seeing I-Mate Smartphone2 which may do the job... any opinions on thos based on my specs? It made me notice one feature I need to add to both Must Have and Would Like Added: Must Have: - Voice Memo Would Like: - Recording of Calls (preferably without a beeping notification to the other caller) Thank you! The SMT5600 (HTC Typhoon) is more recent than the imate smartphone2 (HTC Voyager). The SMT5600 is also smaller and has a faster processor. There are couple of programs available for the MS smartphone that allow recording direct to SD card although I haven't actually tried these on the SPV C500 yet (note C500 is the same phone as SMT5600). I haven't come across any programs that allow recording of actual phone conversations on the C500 but then again you may have to check if this is possible on the Nokia 6600. I would much rather go with the SMT5600 or imate sp3 than the imate smartphone2 ;)

I simply couldn't afford the SMT at the moment, so I had to settle for the T-Mobile RIM 7100t for the moment. it only cost me $50 at current biz rate.... no camera, no voice memo, but it will have to do for a bit until I sell of old equipment.
