I'm sure this has been asked quite a few times already but I need to get some replacement headphones. I had a go at soldering some new ones onto the mic/volume controller unit and now its stuffed. So if anyone can point me in the right direction it would be most appreciated.

cheers

Do you need the microphone function?

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Yes as I do quite like using it as a handsfree as well.

What are they like? I have looked at them before but was not convinced that the sound would be much better than the standard ones ?

I have actually tried all of the following,

adapter - more like a javelin

Sony Ericsson's - Not bad but found them uncomfortable - and no volumn adjustment.

Boxwave - Absolute rubbish sound and build quality.

Probably should have just gone for the Seideo's in the first place !

cheers

These are very good. Apparently. ;)

Jests aside, the E2c models are superb (and believe me, I've tried what seems like dozens of them).

EDIT: You will, of course, need an adapter for a separate microphone (forgot to mention that bit). Well worth it for really good sound quality IMHO.

The Seideo ones are superb, not that I'm an audiophile or anything. They sound pretty good to me though.

Only worries I had were the lightweight rubber earclips. They don't hold the phone in too tightly and can slip out of optimum position. Then again, that just makes them more comfortable to wear. Not good for jogging perhaps. Not that I'd know

The retractable cable is the USP for me. With the Jam in my cotton shirt pocket the need for BT disappears.

I'm now thinking of getting a spare pair as I'm sticking with them.

Mr. Stu, I'm glad you've got these and commented on how good they are because I was thinking of getting some myself. OK, they won't be up to the Shure headphones (but they're a lot cheaper), but as the Seidio web site says "With it, there is no longer the feeling of uncomfortable, sweat-soaked headphones after a nice, long run." ;) (I'm still laughing about that as I write this!) Having never been a runner, I can safely say that the though of sweaty headphones in my ears has put me off for life.

the earphones supplied with the c500 are simply crappy - they do not fit into my ears and the quality of the sound is horrible. However.. it's not that easy to find a 2.5 to 3.5mm adaptor that works. First got one from a local electronics store, which was a simple plug. Not only it was long & straight (thus vulnerable), also it did not really fit into the c500. I tried then tried to polish and adapt it - no succes. Next i bought an adaptor expansys recommended for the QTEK. Does fit, has a 90deg bend so overall a better plug, but.. no stereo sound though it is a stereo adaptor :):( Does anybody have a working adaptor??!

hi mossywell, i am a bit confused though - ordered mine via expansys. It has a rigth angle plug and 4pins. i just contacted their support and they recommended the following: http://www.expansys.nl/product.asp?code=119289

The adaptors i had thusfar are quite similar, and differ less than a millimeter from the original headset.. so from any picture on the web it will be hard to tell if it works! Which one are you using??

Don't worry about being confused: this is actually more involved than many people realise (as in, "just get any 4-pin jobbie", isn't necessarily the right answer).

I have this one: http://www.seidio-europe.com/ProductDetail...oductCode=HAS25

It is indeed stereo with a right angle adapter. It only has 3 pins, but unfortunately, it does not leave the phone's microphone working (I had hoped it would), so if you get a call, you have to remove the adapter to talk. An alternative that Disco Stu has is the Seidio that has an inbuilt microphone. He says that the sound is good on those.
