Guest awarner [MVP] Posted January 18, 2003 Report Posted January 18, 2003 Here's the latest emailo from GapiDraw The next betarelease of GapiDraw 1.1 due out next week will have full Smartphone support. Please note though that all games have to be specifically compiled to run on a smartphone. You can not use a Pocket PC executable and expect it to run on the smartphone. So they apps still need to compiled for phones:cry:
Guest spacemonkey Posted January 18, 2003 Report Posted January 18, 2003 Yeah, but on top of that unless the apps have been written with a control keys of the smartphone and resolution in mind, it's pretty irrelevant anyway. Can you imagine Everquest Pocket PC being playable without a stylus without some serious thought from the developers?
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted January 18, 2003 Report Posted January 18, 2003 At least it's a move in the right direction. who cares anyway all we want is WORMS!!!!! or maybe Snails?
Guest youngerpants Posted January 18, 2003 Report Posted January 18, 2003 why is everyone concentrating on games, theyre nice n all, but take a long time to develop, and hey, i already have a few loaded. what we need are productivity tools as well, something like a notepad clone could be knocked up in 10 mins (obviously not by me though  ) or .doc/ .xls readers (it in MS after all) pocket access was always handy... thats only MS office looked at, what about telnet, ftp, VNC, java i could go on. OK, I'm not a developer (and certainly dont want to sound ungratefull to all the people who have unlocked their phones and are doing some great work) but I saw the SPV as more than a phone-gba combo when i bought it just my 2p worth (again)
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted January 18, 2003 Report Posted January 18, 2003 Games first work second  Notepad would be good but i'd want an add on keyboard first ideal when working away. Games have a wider audience but apps are still vital as well.
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted January 18, 2003 Report Posted January 18, 2003 A task manager and a text app would be top of my list. Like you say games are all good and fun but i'd like to let the phone _increase_ my productivety at least a little bit ;)
Guest The Futures Bright Posted January 18, 2003 Report Posted January 18, 2003 I think JAVA would be rather cool, think of all the downloadable games goodies available, and not too large either. 8)
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted January 18, 2003 Report Posted January 18, 2003 Forgot about java hehe, add that and pdf/word/ecel veiwers to my list as well ;)
Guest Paul [MVP] Posted January 18, 2003 Report Posted January 18, 2003 A Task Manager would be very cool... P
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted January 18, 2003 Report Posted January 18, 2003 Pdf/word was asked about in post earlier today, gets my vote ;) On the java theme Didn't I read that it would slow the phone down? Don't know if I could put up with it unless it's something you could activatede-activate when needed.
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted January 19, 2003 Report Posted January 19, 2003 Hence the need for a task manager ;)
