Guest frijj2k Posted January 18, 2003 Report Posted January 18, 2003 Hi Has anybosy successfully installed and used MyTools on an un-locked SPV. It installs ok and it is running (because the clock appears at the top of the screen) but when you press and holf the record button to bring up the menu.. nothing happens! :-( I've tried re-installing it several times but it still wont run. All other un-signed apps run fine... Frijj2k

Guest awarner [MVP] Posted July 27, 2004 Report Posted July 27, 2004 Nice one :P Now off to try it :D/
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted July 27, 2004 Report Posted July 27, 2004 The app can be downloaded from here http://www.micro-cheng.com/products/mytoolspn.html To get the app to works you need to reboot the phone first (mpx200 running 2003)
Guest drblow Posted July 27, 2004 Report Posted July 27, 2004 OK - I had no idea which thread to reply to since there are so many ( ), so I picked this one at random. I installed this app a while ago on a UK e200. It installed fine, and after a brief look at the website, it seemed that the 'record' button is used to access the menu. This seems a bit daft to me, since the only 2003 device available ATM is the e200, and the 'record' button is used for the camera shortcut. The menu does appear if you press & HOLD the camera button, but this is a bit of a silly way to operate an app, as if you accidentally hit the button once, you need to wait for the camera to initialize and then quit it. It would be 100% better IMO to map the function buttons to something else - if feasible. I also found the menu a little awkward to browse, having to use the volume keys, but maybe its just a case of getting used to it. The actual functions of mytools seem a little redundant to me. By now I'm sure everybody has a task manager, and all the shortcuts are far more awkward than simply accessing apps in the normal way. Again, this may be specific only to the e200 with the camera button being the problem. I didn't really find anything that I would consider useful except for the cut/paste function - which unfortunately crashed my e200 every time I tried to use it. Sorry if this seems a bit on the negative side, but aftre seeing about 10 posts all announcing the new app, I kind of expected it to be a bit better than it actually is. Perhaps if the button mapping could be more practical for 2003 then it may seem better ... EDIT - oh yeah, & what is the little counter for in the icon bar?
