Guest Deemon Posted January 18, 2003 Report Posted January 18, 2003 Ok im confused...Im creating my backdrops for my homepage at 176x200 resolution(same size as the images on Smartphony skins). I open up IA album and view my image at full size and it looks fine. I then set it to be my homepage background and 1) the colours are different...not much...but different none the less. 2) the image is being resized..just enough to add artifacting to the image and make it look squashed... this is the image im using.. http://www.armadafleetcommand.com/~addf/im...es/Xenia04c.jpg Any ideas anyone....does the homepage image size have to be different ? Why are the colours changing ? Seems very strange.... Paul do you notice this with that other Image viewer ? Does that have the same functionality as IA Album ? :?
Guest amo Posted January 18, 2003 Report Posted January 18, 2003 Ive found the same problem when setting an image as a background through IA. It seems that it converts the colour depth or converts from bmp to jpg (or the other way around). I tried using the luna.gif file as my background through IA and it appeared in crappy quality so it must perform some sort of conversion as the original luna.gif file looked fine before.
Guest zenabi Posted January 19, 2003 Report Posted January 19, 2003 Just to add, most of the smartphony backgrounds include the iconbar. Since your pic doesn't you should make your image 176x180, that way it will fit perfectly between the iconbar and the softkeys.
Guest Deemon Posted January 19, 2003 Report Posted January 19, 2003 yeah I tried that too...thing is that the image is still being visually compressed somehow and the colors are still being affected. The best result i get is by setting IA album to centre the image that way any excess image just hangs off the edge of the screen. But this is a 32000 colour phone (16 bit) as far as im concerned the images should be exactly the same on the Homepage as they are in IA Album... Tried both JPG and BMP images..same result i know its a stupid thing when u look at all the other bugs that we are putting up with but ive got a bugbear with it now... :?
Guest Gorskar Posted January 19, 2003 Report Posted January 19, 2003 Why don't you just put the image in IPSMApplication DataHome Then you should be able to select it as the backround image from the settings menu
Guest Deemon Posted January 19, 2003 Report Posted January 19, 2003 I just hadnt bothered using the homepage screen in settings since i got IA album...and besides all my pix were going into Storage CardMy DocumentsMy Picture to save space on the phone... but you know what ? IA album DOES do something to the image when you make it the homepage background..Cos i just tried the same image by putting it in the old IPSMApplication DataHome and the image works perfectly..... no squashing..no artifacting...no colour chainging... sometimes it pays to go back to basics....cheers Gorskar
Guest Gorskar Posted January 19, 2003 Report Posted January 19, 2003 You're welcome! ;) I'm still yet to discover the joys of IA album, because the demo didnt work on my phone, and I havn't presuaded myself yet to part with the money for the full verison.
Guest Deemon Posted January 19, 2003 Report Posted January 19, 2003 well judging by this little fiasco..im not that keen on it.. I might take a look at the other picture viewer thats out... http://www.pdagold.com/software/smp/301/de...ftwareID=100077
Guest flamin_jerry Posted January 20, 2003 Report Posted January 20, 2003 Why don't you just copy The image and the paste it in to the Home folder Under: IPSM/APPLICATION DATA/HOME. Then if you paste it and select it on home screen on your seetings on your SPV
Guest flamin_jerry Posted January 20, 2003 Report Posted January 20, 2003 Any questions don't hesitate to ask
Guest Deemon Posted January 20, 2003 Report Posted January 20, 2003 ? I know where to put the images ! I was pointing out that IA album screws with the image
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted January 20, 2003 Report Posted January 20, 2003 One question Is IA-album worth the money? and why? Sorry thats two questions
Guest Deemon Posted January 20, 2003 Report Posted January 20, 2003 Well I wouldnt know as i only have the demo..All ive been using it for is a way of keeping track of my homescreen backgrounds...but I wont be using it for that anymore....I guess the only other function it serves is to help with the camera stuff...Im sure other apps will do this soon
Guest pipin Posted February 22, 2003 Report Posted February 22, 2003 :) well i think IA Album is worth the money we pay, after a few hic-cups i got it to attach attachments to my e.mails and had no probs in sending them. ;)
