Hi all ;)

I'm trying to put a few mp3's onto my phone. They're all fairly big, but I've got 512mb in the phone so there's no space issues. I hook the phone up via USB, the computer regonises it, updates my outlook calendar etc. However, if I try to send it a file of any decent size, it gives up after it's sent a few mb, and I get the disconnected tone. No matter what I do, it won't let me send a large file to the phone.

Even stranger, it works fine at a friends house on his machine using the same set up! So I guess there's no problem with the phone itself.

Anyone had this problem before, and if so is it resolveable?

Cheers!

It's always a good idea to use a card reader for this sort of thing.

I guess, but that means ripping the back off the phone every time I fancy a change of tunes ;)

I'm no AS expert, so hang on and someone else might have a solution.

Can't find a setting anywhere obvious. Firewall problem ? Has been known..

Hanging tight :D

Firewall's are all external so they *shouldn't* effect my machine locally. I've unchecked everything apart from USB just incase that was causing the problem, shut down all unnessecary software incase it was that... Nowt ;)

Looks like I'll be ripping the back off my phone though heheh ;)

I do not think firewall may b a problem but try disableing it. I sent to my phone mp3 files larger in size than 150Mb .It worked well . :D

OK, couple of long shot questions - which version of Activesync are you running? Is it worth downloading a newer one (they're free from Microsoft.com)? I'm running AS4, but I can't remember if that was a Beta or not - AS3.8 may be the most up to date official version.

If you are on 3.8 or 4.0, might be worth re-installing the one you're running at the moment?

Like I said, it's a long shot but if something's not working right I always try removing and replacing it - Windows seems to like that method of problem solving! ;)

Good luck.

Is there an Active Sync official version 4.0 ? Or r u running beta ?

Wasn't sure (the "About" just shows Activesync 4.0.0 - no mention of Beta). Just had a run down Microsoft's site and the only one I can find is a "Developers Preview" of AS4.0 on this page:

http://msdn.microsoft.com/mobility/windows...ds/default.aspx

so it looks like I am running a Beta! #-o

Still - that's my sad, blokey "Bigger number = Better" kicking in again!

I'm currently using the version that came with the phone itself - seems it's 3.7.1 which is a smidge out of date. I'll get it updated and let you know how I get on. Cheers lads ;)

Right, updated to the new version and it's still not working. Lets me copy from the phone to the computer ok - just not the other way. Same problem; sends 3-4 mb, then disconnects, despite being plugged in. ;)

I have the same problem. Doesn't matter if it's through cable or BT, after some time it just stops transferring. And that's not all, when this has happened, my phone doesn't work anymore either. I have to take the battery out to reset it. However, it does not happen all the time. Sometimes it will transfer an entire album of mp3's without problems, but never big files like episodes of friends or seinfeld want to put on my phone, let alone an entire movie.

Anyone who has worked this out yet?

I know a cardreader might be useful, but it just isn't a real solution to the problem. Is this a known bug, or is there just something wrong with my (our) phones/activesync software?

OK, maybe this is a solution:

Disable the convert-option in activesync (options/rules/conversion settings). I've just tried this and have been able to transfer a full Seinfeld episode of over 30 mb without problems. It seemed a bit faster, too.

I'm not sure if this solves the problem completely, since I have been able te transfer larger files over activesync a few times before. But lately I've had a lot of trouble doing this and now it seems to work. Might still be just luck though.

I'd say: try it out yourself and post your findings.

The phone does not transafer files and on unplugging it simply hangs
