Step back from french rom

I want to get tomtom 4 working, and as it appears people are stuggling to get it to work with the latest rom version.

I have the french rom, version 4.2.2.1. Is it possible to roll back to a version that works with tomtom 4? There don't seem to be many advantages to the latest rom.

Any help would be good.
