I'm sorry if this has already been answered, I've searched and can't find anything on it.

When I get my e-mail using the SPV is there anyway of leaving a copy of the e-mail on the server, so I can also pick it up on my PC?

Orange say I have to use active sync to sync my SPV and in-box, but then the SPV won't collect my e-mail as it tells me it's set to sync with my inbox.

I am with Freeserve.

Many thanks

Shane

I have no problem with NTL,

I receive my email on the phone just to see whats there.

Manly modaco topic reply emails ;)

then I just download them on my pc from NTL when I get home.

As I'm not too techie, could it be to do with the fact that I only receive

the first 1000 bytes? so as it's not a full email download it stays on the server?

Just a thought

What leaves a copy on the server?

What settings have you got in you SPV e-mail. Auto sync every 1 hour?

Download header only?

or what.

Cheers

I manualy receive my emails and in inboxoptionsreceiving

Sorry to sound stupid  but where is the Download header option?

But I have the email content as well as the header.

As I've never altered these settings I presume i have the default settings

The "Header only option" is under e-mail options/recieving. You can set it to header only, 500 bytes, 1000 bytes, entire message.

The SPV leaves a copy of any e-mail it recieves on the server, so your PC will be fine to pick up those e-mails as you normally would with Outlook you can set your pc up to leave copies as well though.

In Outlook go to Tools > Accounts > double click your freeserve mail account > click the Servers tab > check the "Leave a copy of the message on the server" box.

Also if you want to use the SPV's GPRS capabilities to receive your email you will have to tell activesync not to syncronsie your inbox, or else it will get confused.

Incedentally, my phone has been fine collecting e-mail through a passthrough internet connection, but fails when i try to reveive through GPRS, nevermind :/

I forgot to tell activesync and it tried to download my entire inbox

Took me ages with a very slow phone to delete them lol.

Strange about your email with gprs?

Ta Shane I was in the right area but didn't bother to scroll through the options.

Let us know when you sort out you problem ;)

Have fun

awarner: Yeah its a bitch, your inbox can be controled by Outlook Smartphone or Outlook 2000, but not both. Its a useful way of clearing out half your inbox though ;)
