Guest yatpeak Posted January 19, 2003 Report Posted January 19, 2003 I have a problem a bit like it in that activesync only notices the spv about half of the time, but i have no idea how to fix it.
Guest angeleyes Posted January 20, 2003 Report Posted January 20, 2003 what version of windows do u have, and did u install active sync before plugging device into usb port? ;)
Guest janagan Posted January 20, 2003 Report Posted January 20, 2003 Does the hardware wizard comes out when u connect the cradle, or when u place the phone on a cradle that is connected. Best way is to disconnect cradle Uninstall activesync Uninstall the newly added devices Now restart, check that the devices are actually uninstalled then install activesync and follow the procedures in manual
Guest Tyrant_worm Posted January 20, 2003 Report Posted January 20, 2003 Do you use a personal fire wall? You must leave a couple of ports open for activesync(cannot remember which ones, sos not at home). Does your M/B have a Via chipset as these are notoriously buggy when it comes to USB, download Via's latest 4 in 1 drivers. As stated earlier if you plug the device(dock) in before installing drivers Windows will install any old b*llocks, removal of drivers depends on O/S. If you go to Device Manager on your PC and view devices by connection, USB Controller etc - do you see HTC CEDevice, if yes but you cannot get activesync to see handset, likely to be firewall issue above, if your really paranoid(you wouldn't have bought an SPV  disable any other connection you have to the internet and shut down your firewall. In activesync pcsettings on SPV ensure autosync is set to USB. Ensure cable is good and plugged into a working USB socket, put SPV solidly in cradle and restart your machine. Reflash M/B bios - just joking but I did carry on a bit ;) Hope any of this hepls someone
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted January 20, 2003 Report Posted January 20, 2003 I have an Abit Kx7 with Via kt333 chipset, not had any probs with it yet ;) As for the problem, its a remove all exisitence and start over following the manual jobbie :/
Guest gchq Posted January 21, 2003 Report Posted January 21, 2003 Using xp pro - yes i did badword up and whacked it in before installing activeshit but jesus i didnt think i'd be facing reinstallin windows - thing is i had it half going at first - it wouldnt sync properly (was sayin critical processes not loaded up or sumin) - but i could use configuration wizard and activesync was actually finding the phone - due to me uninstallin all usb stuff as described in a message on this forum; finding and deleting any files created in windows folder at the time i installed activeshit; system restore; yes i have completely uninstalled my firewall and it aint that either; god knows what else anyway point is it dont recognise the phone at all now and everytime (doesnt matter how i time it with activeshit install config) i put the phone in regardless the new hardware wizard comes up sayin fail to install htc usb sync - what is going on - am i gonna have to reinstall windows - surely not.....
Guest angeleyes Posted January 21, 2003 Report Posted January 21, 2003 i have xp pro - and did exactly the same thing by plugging in cradle before installing active sync - then windows flys off the handle about it and active sync can't find device - luckily or not - had to reinstall windows anyway as had a virus that completely ruined my comp, couldn't even restore the system any which way. then installed it the right way round - and it works fine. there's a post about what to do when u plug in cradle before installing active sync. plus i've never had a problem with my firewall being on - i don't think that has anything to do with it ;)
