Ok first off i would like to say hello to everyone of the board and must congratulate the Admins, Mods and members of the Forum for making MoDaCo what it is today.;) Without this great board i would not have such great help for my Smartphone.

I would also like to mention that i have searched all over the forum to see if my question has been posted or answered before posting with a possible fix and not found a topic so here goes...

When receiving SMS messages i get the number displayed instead of the actual contact name in my phonebook displayed to let me know who it is.

As i dont know everyone of my contacts by their phone numbers i can say this is a right royal pain in the bum to try and figure out who has sent the message.

Is there a way to fix it to show the contact name instead of the phone number when i get an SMS?

Also i noticed that users on another forum which is dedicated to the XDA (Pocket PC i think) are having similar problems with their software in their phones but have released a fix to correct this.

http://xda-developers.com/tweaks/

This freeware little application was designed for improving SMS messaging on your PocketPC 2002 Phone Edition device.

By default, when you get SMS message, you see a telephone number only. With "SMS Name" you'll be able to see a sender name (which you have added to your Contacts list).

Obviously this problem has stemmed from the Pocket PC software down to our Smartphone software so it should not be too hard to release a fix or workaround, but does anyone know that has removed certification that this software program will actually work on the SPV Smartphone?

Maybe there is another way to fix it that i may of missed but i have not found a way as of yet.

Look forward to your replies people.

All the best to everyone.

Of all applications for MS mobile OS's, PocketPC is probably the least likely to be compatible i'm afraid. Smartphone is based on WinCE.

It is a problem that some people have mentioned, firstly you need to ensure the contacts numbers are in the correct format, +44 (1234) 567890, for SmartPhone OS to pick up on the sender name. If your contacts arent formated like this you can download and use this application to do so. See this for further info.

If this does not help then as i have said, some people have reported their sms's no being associated with the contacts. I don't think that any solution was ever found :/

Ok first off thanks for the quick respone on the post!;)

Ok all my mobile numbers now begin with +44 in front of the number, so instead of 01234567899 i have +441234567899 with just the 0 taken out.

Is this correct?

Also when i try to make a call on my mobile will i be charged more for dialling with a +44 in front of the number instead of the normal 01234567899 way?

Thanks again and take care.
