Guest sunny Posted January 19, 2003 Report Posted January 19, 2003 As you should know our smartpone is underclocked @ 84 Mhz it must be @ 120 ? so here's a prog which overlocks PDAs... http://www.mobigeeks.net/stories.php?story...3/01/17/8927557 Anyone's able to make this soft avaliable for our beloved phone ?
Guest Paul [MVP] Posted January 19, 2003 Report Posted January 19, 2003 A forum member is working on it ;) P
Guest The_Brickster Posted January 19, 2003 Report Posted January 19, 2003 Running at 120 is going to kill the battery!
Guest madu Posted January 24, 2003 Report Posted January 24, 2003 I am looking fwd to this - F**K the battery - I want a quick phone!! Regards.
Guest amo Posted January 24, 2003 Report Posted January 24, 2003 Damn right, I charge my fone every nite anyway so i dont really care. Gimme overclocked cpu's! And maybe stick a Radeon 9700 in there too for the games ;)
Guest madu Posted January 24, 2003 Report Posted January 24, 2003 ......and a heatsink with industrial strength fan :? and a 20GB hard drive would be nice....
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted January 24, 2003 Report Posted January 24, 2003 And an ctrlaltdel button ;) for all those possible crashes due to temp rise
Guest Emad Posted January 24, 2003 Report Posted January 24, 2003 Nah, just bind it to volume up/voice record/power. Actually, that doesn't quite have the same ring, does it? ;)
Guest rcoley Posted January 27, 2003 Report Posted January 27, 2003 The thought of having my SPV running @ 120Mhz is mouth wateringly pant wetting. It will be almost like the phone is connected straight to my brain
Guest ajb3000 Posted January 27, 2003 Report Posted January 27, 2003 Isn't it designed for 132Mhz?? And who wants to be the first nutter to try running their SPV at 1Ghz ;)
Guest Emad Posted January 27, 2003 Report Posted January 27, 2003 Nah, the liquid nitrogen cooling kit would make it a wee bit too bulky to carry in your pocket..
Guest spacecowboy6982 Posted January 29, 2003 Report Posted January 29, 2003 I'll be the first one to test it - battery life's pathetic anyways and a hard rest should do the trick  if it buggers up !! Space Cowboy
Guest DJ WATTS Posted February 2, 2003 Report Posted February 2, 2003 Just hope a hard reset isnt needed to get it overclocked as this would mess up the de-certification... As for the battery life i charge mine every night and its never dropped to half for me so for my phone usage it would be great. If they advertise something like they have done with the specs of the phone running with a 132Mhz processor, is it not classified as false advertising seen as its at 83mhz? Waiting patiently on the progress/release of the overclock potential. We will turn this phone into the phone it was meant to be with de-certification/games/apps and nice processor speed to boot!!;)
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted February 2, 2003 Report Posted February 2, 2003 The thing is, it still has a 132Mhz processor but it's just not using that speed. so no real false advertising just misleading a bit  Still It would be nice to have the full speed ;)
Guest DJHope Posted February 7, 2003 Report Posted February 7, 2003 It seems that this might actually be possible but some ARM Assembler experince maybe required. Below is the source code for a Pocket PC ARM overclocking program, now we all know that Pocket PC ARM and Smatphone ARM are very similar, maybe its worth a look? Here is a quote from the website: "Speed Stepper is a XScale speed stepping program. There are a number of speeds that the XScale processor is capable of. This program currently lets you select three of them. 100 MHz, 200 MHz, and 300 MHz. Executing the program will show you what your current speed setting is and let you change it. " The Source Code is Here: http://www.elevatedstudios.com/pocket/source.htm and the program description etc is here: http://elevatedstudios.com/pocket/
Guest Emad Posted February 7, 2003 Report Posted February 7, 2003 The SPV chip isn't an XScale processor, is it? Its missing the bits that the PocketPC chip has for rapid clock switching. I think. :)
Guest DJHope Posted February 7, 2003 Report Posted February 7, 2003 Erm done some fishing, The TI OMAP 710 is intended for use in upcoming cell phone generations to enable optimal performance and power savings. This innovative integrated processor incorporates a dsp based GSM / GPRS digital baseband engine and an ARM9 microprocessor with integrated MMU and cache. AND Could this be our very own florin_m????? Linux 2.5.x for OMAP? Florin Spanachi [email protected] Thu, 19 Sep 2002 17:55:08 +0200 Previous message: Multi-threaded X on ARM Embedded Linux Next message: bogoMIPS ? and RAMDISK ? Messages sorted by: [ date ] [ thread ] [ subject ] [ author ] -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hi, does anybody know if there is a Linux for Texas Instrument's OMAP 710 processor?  TI says, the OMAP is based on ARM 925 kernel. Is anybody currently working on that topic? Guest DJHope Posted February 7, 2003 Report Posted February 7, 2003 Dont be so sure his english is TERRIBLE!
Guest madu Posted February 7, 2003 Report Posted February 7, 2003 He may not be english, but he definitely lives in UK. So how about overclocking this ARM?
Guest yzbob Posted February 7, 2003 Report Posted February 7, 2003 Dont be so sure his english is TERRIBLE! think thats a bit harsh, how many foreign forums do u chat on, and effectively get ur point across in another language?  hoping that ur not fluent in 10 languages or something
Guest DJHope Posted February 7, 2003 Report Posted February 7, 2003 Why is it harsh? just because i cant speak a million different languages dosnt mean i cant make an observation about someone elses ability to speak ours thats all i was making, if someone said my german was terrible id shake their hand and agree! DJ Hope
Guest yzbob Posted February 7, 2003 Report Posted February 7, 2003 i was disagreeing that his english terrible, it may not be the best but its not terrible.
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted February 7, 2003 Report Posted February 7, 2003 It cant be him, not a single smilie in the entire post. :)
Guest DJHope Posted February 7, 2003 Report Posted February 7, 2003 i was disagreeing that his english terrible, it may not be the best but its not terrible. Ok fair point! Maybe terrible was a little extreme! Sorry mate, DJ Hope
