I would imagine most don't know what a ROM update is but I would hope most know that you can get them.
Guest tsutton Posted June 24, 2005 Report Posted June 24, 2005 Next time you call orange, ask to be transferred to the tech team.. they do know what you will be talking about. :)
Guest Dade Posted June 24, 2005 Report Posted June 24, 2005 Of course Orange train their staff. Do you think that they could be that unhelpful naturally?
Guest amo Posted June 24, 2005 Report Posted June 24, 2005 Most people don't know what a Rom update is - its not part of their direct job description to know this. Just as you wont know the background of everything to do with the line of work you're in. Also, Orange Developers group isn't part of Orange Retail or Orange PCS UK as far as I know, rather a division of Orange.

Guest mupwangle Posted June 25, 2005 Report Posted June 25, 2005 >>yes but come on, he didnt know wot a spv was.. You have to remember that the guys you speak to on phone are just call-center peeps. Usually on minimum wage and enough training to make them reasonably useful. They probably get briefing emails every couple of weeks that they don't care enough to read. I work for an extremely major global IT company (you *will* have heard of them), as a contractor at a global agro-chemical company (used to be ICI) and the helpdesk staff(run by the global IT company (who are not, under any circumstances related to Compaq, honest guv'nor)) are crap for about 3-6 months, then get pretty good and are fired after 11 months and replaced by total novices who we have to whinge into shape. The whole thing these days is that it is easier to take on contractors and dump them before they have any rights! I would be very surprised if I phoned orange and the person answering the phone knew anything about the new phones (or anything about current pohones unless they owned one) I have to admit I have the most respect for the people on the phone that admit that and go and ask rather than bullshitting you. Unfortunately the latter is the most common.
