Guest Papps Posted June 24, 2005 Report Posted June 24, 2005 I went off to work the other day on a hot day and left my phone off in the glovebox as usual along with another phone, when i returned a few hours later the screen had cracked and the case over the left soft key appeared melted ;) any ideas anyone? What should i do now is this a fault with the phone? can i get it fixed under warranty? Thanks.
Guest bosshogg Posted June 24, 2005 Report Posted June 24, 2005 I think you'll have a tough job convincing them that it's a warranty repair. It should be covered under your phone's insurance policy (Orange Care or similar) if you took that out. I had a similar thing in the winter where my wife left her phone in her coat pocket after having been outside on a cold day, then put the coat on a radiator which then cracked the screen (that was a T610 though). Orange replaced it under Care with no probs.
Guest mupwangle Posted June 24, 2005 Report Posted June 24, 2005 A few years back I had a panasonic g400. It was winter and was about 10 below. I walked into a friends house that was really warm for about 10 minutes and back out into the cold again. When I looked at the phone the change in temperature had cracked the screen inside. o2 (cellnet at the time) refused to replace it as they said that that sort of thing doesn't happen and I must've dropped it. Eventually they did replace it but only after a lot of hassle. It's probably in the manual somewhere but all equipment has operational temperatures and if you expose your phone to any extreme then it is accidental damage rather than warranty as using the equipment out of it's tolerances voids the warranty. If you've got orange care then they'll replace it though.
Guest mupwangle Posted June 25, 2005 Report Posted June 25, 2005 I typed it at the same time but the post above says the same! ;-)
Guest Papps Posted June 27, 2005 Report Posted June 27, 2005 Yep Problem is i've got no Orange Care :) Does anyone know if HTC would repair it and if so any idea of how much??? Thanks Guys
Guest mupwangle Posted June 27, 2005 Report Posted June 27, 2005 If you phone HTC they'll give you a quote. 0871 223 0217 (you may have to leave your number and they'll call you back - which they do quite quickly) It's not going to be cheap though. A keyboard repair is £70+VAT so I would guess a case+screen would be more. (BTW- they will not sell you the bits by themselves) A new phone on PAYG is £135. You decide!
