Guest zerbo Posted June 24, 2005 Report Posted June 24, 2005 Hi Guys, I have just tried to update my rom for my original XDA. However my PC and XDA froze up during the update and so i had no choice but to restart my PC. But now my XDA just sits on a boot screen saying something like "this may take upto 5 minutes" and has 2 white bars on the screen to show the progress. I have tried soft reset, hard reset but i cant get it of the boot screen and i cant copnnect to ActiveSync know to finish the update or even restart rom update. Anyone have any idea of how i can fix this and put a rom image on to it! HELP Please i want my XDA back!!!
Guest Pondrew Posted June 24, 2005 Report Posted June 24, 2005 Have you tried running the update again with the device connected? On later models it doesn't have to show connected on Activesync, just has to be connected. As long as you've turned off your firewall and have the device connected directly to the USB on your PC it should work...
Guest zerbo Posted June 27, 2005 Report Posted June 27, 2005 Yip turned of the fire wall, but the rom install program reprts an error message saying i need to be connected through ActiveSync.

Guest Mr.Clark Posted June 27, 2005 Report Posted June 27, 2005 I can't remember where I found this, and I got it for the iMate Pocket PC (XDA-II), but some or all of it might be applicable... Please find below the step by step guide to load your device with the latest ROM. Your Operating System files are corrupted and need to be reloaded again. 1. Make sure your i-mate Pocket PC is not connected to the PC 2. On your Desktop PC, open Microsoft ActiveSync, then go to File > Connection Settings > Remove the Selection from “Allow USB Connection… “ 3. Make sure your Device is on Boot loader Screen* (start up screen) 4. Reconnect your i-mate Pocket PC to the Desktop PC using the USB Cradle and the Charger MUST be Connected to the Cradle ( Don’t use the IrDA for the Upgrade ) 5. Run the Upgrade again and it will work fine without any problems *Boot loader Screen – Hold the navigator button (round button in the middle of the answer/hang up buttons) and do a Hard Reset (Hold the power on/off button while pressing the small hole button on the bottom left of the device) simultaneously. P.S.:-You would not need to get your device to the Boot loader mode because it is already on that mode I know what you're going through, as it happened to me (what was worse was that the device wasn't even mine!), but Don't Panic! and good luck!
