Guest Krik Posted January 19, 2003 Report Posted January 19, 2003 I've just got of the phone to 156 - no result * when inserting my data card - I'm told that I'm running out of storage Where can I find the programmes / files that are using up the space. There seems to be a lot of files under mapi can these be deleted? * If I delete pocket slideshow from the phone - will it still be on thecard for reinstalling later? Does any one know how I can transfer a windows Powerpoint from the PC to the phone & view it via pocket? * The guide book says install MP3 files to IPSM/windows/startmenu/accessories - if I do - I can see it in windows media - but its "greyed out" 156 says put it in IPSM/apps data/sounds - but the same problem
Guest youngerpants Posted January 19, 2003 Report Posted January 19, 2003 1) Yes, you can delete the files in MAPI, they are SMS/ email messages, however, if you have messages you want to keep, delete the others using the phone menu 2) Yes, the install file (cab) should still be on the SD card, uninstall throught settings menu and re-install to the storage card 3) NO, 156 deont really have a clue what they are talking about. Put your files in a My Documents folder or sub-folder in either the phone or SD card (card is preferable obviously) and media player should see them. I would also advise converting the files to WMA as it is a smaller format/ codec and you can get more music in the space you have hope this helped
Guest Krik Posted January 19, 2003 Report Posted January 19, 2003 ;) Thanks for the comments - went to settings/remove progs & got a blank screen - menu just offers remove or cancel - but there are no progs to select any ideas
Guest lutzh Posted January 19, 2003 Report Posted January 19, 2003 Hi there, its pretty useful to have the ALL-explorer running on the Phone, since I've found some unused cab-files on my Phone with it. Also its the most easy way to delete attachments, cookies and other useless crap while you are on the go. Cheers, Lutz
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted January 19, 2003 Report Posted January 19, 2003 Could you let us know what you have actually installedplaced on the phone? Anything you install or add like youngerpants said should really be on your card and not the phone. Let us know how you get on PS one app you need is all-explorer "30 day demo on your cd" Edit I've got to type faster and think less ;)
Guest Krik Posted January 20, 2003 Report Posted January 20, 2003 Thanks for the info - I've loaded all explorer from the sd card - set to auto activate - spv dials G & it failes to connect to activation server. Do I need to set up a freeserve account? Installed Pocket slide show - thought I could use activesync to transfer from laptop to phone card - looked like it converted - but could not point pocket slide to see it. Transfered one audio file by activesync - Win media can see it - but "greyed out"- so no play Also installed rebound. I've used activesync to delete all "cookies?" under Mapi & pocket slide - spv thinks it can still see slide Only 25% free space on phone - I've stopped the sync on email from the laptop to save some space - All help most welcome
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted January 20, 2003 Report Posted January 20, 2003 All-Explorer needs an already active GPRS connection to active properly. You need to install the Powerpoint filter on the CD onto your PC to view them on your SPV. It's also adviseable to back up the software on the Orange SD card to your PC and delete it, this gives you a whopping 6.5meg to play with ;)
Guest Krik Posted January 21, 2003 Report Posted January 21, 2003 Thanks for the tip on All-Explorer - its working!! Yeahhh I've moved the MP3 file to my sounds on the spv - still greyed out - "file type not valid" I'll try the powerpoint filter tomorrow - Cheers
Guest yatpeak Posted January 21, 2003 Report Posted January 21, 2003 Where are you putting your MP3s? I find that the phone can read them anywhere on the sd card. For example, I put all my music into a music folder and then arange them among subfolders and it can read them.
Guest Krik Posted February 3, 2003 Report Posted February 3, 2003 MP3 problem sorted - got a 128 sd card - the phone finds them OK - thanks for the tips ;) Now any ideas about converting MP3 to the windows format? Does it use less space? & can I copy MPEG across - or should I convert it first - if so to what? Also - is there a patch to stop the SMS from hanging as the message is entered? - Driving me nuts
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted February 3, 2003 Report Posted February 3, 2003 Yeah, its the UK update due this week. "honest"
