Guest mtipper Posted June 24, 2005 Report Posted June 24, 2005 Hi, :) i know you probably have seen a post like this many a time before, but i cant seem to find the recolution for it anywhere on this forum. it may be that i am not looking well enough but i would realllllly be greatful if someone were to help. i have recently baught a i-mate sp3i smartphone. everything is ok, but i am trying to find out what software i need to use to use MP3, WMA, WAV or other as ringtones on the phone. i have tried and only midi works. what software do i need ? am i doing something wrong by goin storage>>my docs>>sounds (plant mp3) any information would really be helpful as i want to get this phone up and running. i am on an o2 network, with media player version 9 (default) installed. no additional hardware has been installed from new.
Guest mavisdavis Posted June 24, 2005 Report Posted June 24, 2005 Yeah place all ringtone either in the root of teh storage card or Stirage/Aplication Data/Sounds to use ringtones as custom personal ringtones. It'll acccept wavs and wma for ringotones but only wavs for text alerts and alarmss :) Welcome to the site
Guest mtipper Posted June 24, 2005 Report Posted June 24, 2005 hi first off, thanks for your reply, much appreciated i dont really understand to be honest, i aint blonde or nothin its just im new to this whole smartphone idea. so, i have an mp3, of small size for example, and i want to put it as a ringtone. could you give me a step by step guide to how this could be done, or with a WMA file as well. cheers
Guest mavisdavis Posted June 24, 2005 Report Posted June 24, 2005 (edited) Right the 1st thing to do is find a ringtone > look HERE Then connect your phone to your pc and wait for activsync to open, Hit the exlpore button then navigate to this location > \Storage\Application Data\Sounds. In here you can drop wma files and use them ringtones for your contacts. And wav files for alerts and stuff But if you just want a load of ringtones to change when ever you like drop the files onto your \Storage Card (don't place them in a folder) Mp3 samples are not supported unless you have the latest rom installed on ya phone ( You'lll know you have it as you'll have Windows Media Player 10) Edited June 24, 2005 by mavisdavis
