Guest Rolandrat Posted March 26, 2003 Report Posted March 26, 2003 Anyone having problems at the mo, it's just sticking in dialling for me then times out with "unable to place call", and no I haven't changed any settings, last used on 22nd this month. Everything else is fine, just gprs stuff.
Guest omar_g Posted March 26, 2003 Report Posted March 26, 2003 I had that with my O2 sim all day yesterday. I've now put it in another phone and it works perfectly. Could be a conspiricy but more likely, your local cell site is having problems with GPRS.
Guest DJHope Posted March 26, 2003 Report Posted March 26, 2003 yep ive been havin issues for a while im in the uxbridge area! DJ Hope
Guest benzo Posted March 26, 2003 Report Posted March 26, 2003 I too am having problems GPRS dialling. Both MSN and pocket IE are unable to connect. Tried restarting my phone loads of times.. did not resolve anything. This problem has been affecting me since this morning. SE1 London area. Benzo.
Guest Geniarse Posted March 26, 2003 Report Posted March 26, 2003 I travel by train from the South Coast to Central London every day. 90% of the time GPRS is available for the whole journey. TODAY ABSOLUTELY F*&^ ALL!!!! NOT HAPPY!!!!
Guest Simon Desser Posted March 26, 2003 Report Posted March 26, 2003 I've just had "Unable to place call" which is the first time for me :) (I'm in Central Manchester)
Guest fraser Posted March 26, 2003 Report Posted March 26, 2003 It's been knackered for a few weeks. Orange replaced my phone over it, but no difference. It works sometimes, perhaps 20% if you are lucky.
Guest Raify Posted March 26, 2003 Report Posted March 26, 2003 Same problem here in West Kent, Unable to place call all day &RSE!
Guest Coolboy1982 Posted March 26, 2003 Report Posted March 26, 2003 Same here (Oxfordshire). Don't remember when I used it last, but it worked then. Now I see the "G" sign for GPRS available, but cannot connect! EDIT- It even shows the strong GPRS signal sign whilst trying to connect. But nothing works, even after several attempts. EDIT AGAIN: YIPEEEEEE MY 100th post (1 day after my 50th)
Guest PhilA Posted March 26, 2003 Report Posted March 26, 2003 Working in West Yorkshire (but very slowly)
Guest Beardyboy Posted March 26, 2003 Report Posted March 26, 2003 Same here in Essex and London SE12... Anyone complained to Orange yet, or should I try?
Guest Coolboy1982 Posted March 26, 2003 Report Posted March 26, 2003 Same here in Essex and London SE12... Â  Â Anyone complained to Orange yet, or should I try? Orange know about it!!! It's especially in the south of the country and they won't know when it will be fixed. Edit - I know this cause I mentioned it to CS while calling for something else.
Guest paulcaley Posted March 26, 2003 Report Posted March 26, 2003 Its not working in North Wales / Chesire either!!

Guest Coolboy1982 Posted March 26, 2003 Report Posted March 26, 2003 Stockport, Manchester SK8, estimated fix time is tomorrow... just for your area or in general?
Guest benzo Posted March 26, 2003 Report Posted March 26, 2003 Apparently it's not working in Trumpton either.
Guest DJHope Posted March 26, 2003 Report Posted March 26, 2003 Oh good im in the south and ive had bugger all for a bit im glad it isnt just me! DJ Hope
Guest xanadu Posted March 26, 2003 Report Posted March 26, 2003 GPRS has been crap ever since the SPV UK update. I am going back to CSD when the unlimited promotion ends in April. I don't see the point in paying for GPRS when it is so slow !!
Guest Palindrome Posted March 26, 2003 Report Posted March 26, 2003 I phoned up Orange about this and they said it was basically a bandwidth problem. Every mast has only a capasity for a certain amount of bandwidth If too many people are downloading/uploading at the same time then you can't get through.
Guest xanadu Posted March 26, 2003 Report Posted March 26, 2003 I phoned up Orange about this and they said it was basically a bandwidth problem. Every mast has only a capasity for a certain amount of bandwidth If too many people are downloading/uploading at the same time then you can't get through. That would be true if many people were using GPRS on a particular BTS as one timeslot can be shared with up to 7 other users. But when I am using GPRS on low traffic BTS sites and sometimes late at night, this is not true. The speed has got worse since the update and is nothing to do with the network.
Guest Firaas Posted March 26, 2003 Report Posted March 26, 2003 Can anyone post regarding whether or not they are still experiencing problems with GPRS with their postcodes?
Guest tobyfield Posted March 26, 2003 Report Posted March 26, 2003 I have had problems all day using gprs. I works for about 30 mins at 2pm. Post Code TN39 Got home and can't get it to work. Post Code BN23
Guest xanadu Posted March 26, 2003 Report Posted March 26, 2003 Got home and can't get it to work. Try switching SPV off, then back on again. Usually SPV does not know GPRS is working again following a BTS or SGSN failure on the network. All should then be ok....otherwise there is either still a problem in your area or you have some other SPV problem.
