Guest omar_g Posted March 26, 2003 Report Posted March 26, 2003 I'm worried that I may be going mad! When typing sms using T9 if often write "..." on the odd occassion this automatically displays a ":)" smiley. Other times just the three full stops. WHY?! :)
Guest Richie M Posted March 26, 2003 Report Posted March 26, 2003 Becuase when you enter a new word into the T9 it over writes the oldest entry when the T9 is full :)
Guest omar_g Posted March 26, 2003 Report Posted March 26, 2003 I'm still confused! The smiley will appear at random throughout the day, regardless of me adding new words to the dictionary. I've probably only added about 20 words since i've had it, T9 handsets normally have space for around 100-150 new entries. This goes back to the days of the Nokia 3210. :?:
Guest Richie M Posted March 26, 2003 Report Posted March 26, 2003 100-150  you'd be lucky ;) It seems as well with the SPV you enter words in the dictionary when you don't realise it, ie whenever you leave T9 & type something it'll add it. Which is why the smiley will appear randomly; you type ... go into symbol entry so its :-) return to T9, therefore it'll noe be added to T9 - now next time another entry method is used that'll get added to T9 and eventually overwrite :-). T9 implementation on the SPV is crap - do not compare it with Nokias :)
Guest omar_g Posted March 26, 2003 Report Posted March 26, 2003 Richie, heres the wired part, I've *NEVER* written a smiley in one of my texts using the SPV! I've only had it a week so i'd remember if I had!
Guest Richie M Posted March 26, 2003 Report Posted March 26, 2003  ok you got me beat then Omar - but remember what i said; don't expect the SPV's T9 to be as good as a Nokias - it aint :)
Guest yatpeak Posted March 28, 2003 Report Posted March 28, 2003 I don't use the T9 on the SPV, It contains so few words IMHO. Wyatt
