Guest NIRAGPATEL Posted March 26, 2003 Report Posted March 26, 2003 :?:the uk update installs on my pc fine. when i reach the screen with the big spv picture and the various warnings and press next ..... a warning comes up saying this program has performed an illegal operation, the main heading of the error is 'Caupgradeut' then theres nothing i can do !!!! :? :?
Guest Hax Posted March 26, 2003 Report Posted March 26, 2003 Are you using win98/me? There is a known issue with the upgrade program and these operating systems. Not sure, but I thought that Orange had fixed this problem, but anyway, people have found work arounds. By far the easiest solution is to find someone with a Windows 2K/XP computer and run the update from there. On the other hand, if you downloaded the update some time ago, it may be worht getting it again. Also, are you saying that your phone now "insists" on going into the Canary screen? If so, this has been reported before and can be overcome. Guest Hax Posted March 27, 2003 Report Posted March 27, 2003 The problem you describe is with the PC based upgrade program and has nothing to do with the SPV at all. Orange had promised an update to the updrade program the day following the original release IIRC. Can anyone who actually suffered this problem with the update actually confirm that Orange *did* fix the problem? If the problem hasn't been fixed, then you will *have* to find a PC running Windows 2000 or Windows XP to perform the upgrade to your SPV. HTH, Hax
