Guest NederSoren Posted March 27, 2003 Report Posted March 27, 2003 Do you want me to post the pics on my BackDrop site? Look in my signatur!
Guest midnight Posted March 27, 2003 Report Posted March 27, 2003 it would be interesting to see how many people actually use backgrounds cos i reckon a huge majority would use skins rather than backdrops (i could be wrong of course and i aint putting you guys down cos thats some great work, just interested thats all )
Guest Mr_Protozoa Posted March 27, 2003 Report Posted March 27, 2003 I'm not a big fan of skins, i prefer the simplicity of the standard 'full layout', most skins feel too over the top for my liking. I'm going to post a collection of my backgrounds on my website soon, feel free to link to me.
Guest fraser Posted March 27, 2003 Report Posted March 27, 2003 Some of the more recent skins are the best of both worlds. You get the custom UI, but you can specify your own background image.
Guest Mr_Protozoa Posted March 27, 2003 Report Posted March 27, 2003 Doesn't a skin use more system resources? it's got to keep lot's of bitmaps in the memory, unlike the standard layouts which are text only (plus background).
Guest NederSoren Posted March 27, 2003 Report Posted March 27, 2003 I use to mix skins and Bacdrops... thats how I like it... and I dont think that im alone on that
Guest midnight Posted March 27, 2003 Report Posted March 27, 2003 mine runs smooth in fact, the standard orange skin with the background picture is very slow on my phone
Guest madu Posted March 27, 2003 Report Posted March 27, 2003 I prefer simple layout. I made my own xml and scheme (ripped and modded) And just use a nice backdrop. I will post it at some point. PS: Nice, Protozoa
Guest Mr_Protozoa Posted March 27, 2003 Report Posted March 27, 2003 yeh i know they run smoothly - i've tried it. but when you start multitasking lots of stuff could the skins slow down the system? or does it close down apps earlier to keep it smooth?
Guest midnight Posted March 27, 2003 Report Posted March 27, 2003 i've never had any probs, but then, i dont tend to run loads of apps in the background, most i'll have is phm regedit, task manager and smart explorer (well, and whocall which runs permanently in the backgroun) and i have no problems whatsoever since the update most of the speedup tweaks have even been less effective cos the whole thing just runs faster and smoother anyway
