new german smartphone site

hi there!

As it’s my first post, I want to thank you all making me get used to the spv! Here, you got the best forum about the spv in the world.

However, you all are able to get one of those spv’s from orange. Since October Germany was just watching you all being more or less happy with that smart little sound, picture & voice toy.

When the Cebit starts at Hannover, 12.03.2003, Germany will also be plugged by Microsoft. T-Mobile plans to sell the “tanager”, similarly to the spv, as it’s also manufactured by HTC.

Here we go with the first forum about Microsoft smartphones, located in Germany. This site could also be used for German-language people in Europe e.g. orange customers from Switzerland.

So I invite you just having a look at the site http://www.mobilejoe.de. I have nearly completed bug-fixing, this site is not any longer beta.

Thank you!

Greetings joe

Hello sebset.

Yes - you are right. The problem for HTC is, that orange has the exclusive-rights on the SPV so they have to manufacture a second one. The "tanager" looks like

got also OMAP processor with 120 MHz, 16MB and can handle SD and MMC-Cards, has GPRS and 1000mah LI-ION power. But I think - the SPV looks more stylish, more elegant in just silver / chrome colored. As we know the german t-mobile/ D1/ telekom: at CeBit they present, XMas you might be able to buy it....

Ahem - Question - The SPV, does it have the SDIO interface built in the SDCard/MMC? So it could be possible to use bluetooth <-aaarg today the even should have built in wireless lan....

Greetings - joe

I think the spv does have SDIO, although it'd be a bit of a let down not being able to use an SD card at the same time as bluetooth.

Supposing you wanted to use bluetooth headphones to listen to you mp3s on the SD card?

Tanager is the SPV with a new shell ;). Like you say jojoe Orange own the rights to the SPV, so it wasn't too much trouble for HTC to whack a new casing on it and call it Tanager.

jojoe,

Do you think that T-Mobile will include a signature protection inside its smatphones? If it will be the case (hope not for you!) do you think that German customers will agree with this attitude? Something let me think that in Germany there is a lot of Pocket PC developpers and it would be very bad that they have to pay T-Mobile fees... like in UK and France with Orange!

I HOPE NOT!

I am in contact with [email protected]. They told me, that it is not actually planned. As a matter of fact, they haven't already plans for a webportal or services for smartphones.

The second thing I am worried about is that they have no idea about the GPRS costs, like your 10MB/Month account.... - now we would have to pay 12x the orange price for the same traffic.

For what should I buy this phone, when I am not able to use it because the costs are so high. www.xonio.de lists the actual german prices for t-mobile customers.

Oh my dear..... that's t-mobile in germany.

You know, futur SPV French owners should be angry too. Because from January 23 our GPRS option evolves... The fixed price of volume down from 10Mb to 5Mb for same the price=6,00 Euros!

Just got my first bill through, 7.5 meg for the first 2 weeks of my contract. Clearly I am abusing the system...
