Hello folks,

A MoDaCo search returned nothing obvious on this front... I would like to modify the "Car" profile on my SMT 5600 so that the screen and backlight remain on at all times.

While driving, my phone sits in a cradle with the DC charger attached - I would like to keep the screen on at all times in order to see the clock, the number of new e-messages arrived, etc.

Any help?

Thanks!

Hi,

I'm not gonna answer your question exactly how you want, cos I don't know a way to set the backlight time according to the chosen profile.

I just thought I'd check you knew how to keep the backlight on at all...

Start - Settings - Home screen - time out = Never

Start - Settings - More - Power Management - Backlight time out = Never

Start - Settings - More - Power Management - Display time out = Never

You could just change to those settings each time you get in the car, but that'd prove to be a pain in the arse I'm guessing.

Sorry if you already knew this, I was just tryin to be helpful! :)

This is a nice feature of the latest Orange rom that i've found - it does exactly what you ask automatically.

This setting actually appears to specify a period of time prior to returning to the home screen (I tried setting it to 10 seconds, and after about that time it kept jumping back to my home screen). It doesn't seem to affect the duration before the backlight & screen turn off.

It also appears that certain Profiles, such as "headset", appear to only become active under certain conditions (like when a headset is connected, in this case) and one is unable to manually select such profiles if that condition is not met.

So I'm now suspecting that the "Car" Profile may only become active when a Bluetooth Car Kit is paired and active with the phone. Perhaps such a profile can indeed adjust the backlight duration too (as another post on this thread implies).

Curiouser and curiouser...

Thanks,
