Guest soopahfly Posted June 25, 2005 Report Posted June 25, 2005 My dad has just bought an SPV M2000 on Orange, and I'm having trouble setting up the Wlan. It says its connected to my home network "NETGEAR" but won't go on the internet. It claims it needs proxy server settings, but we don't have a proxy. Can anyone help??
Guest ADS Entertainments Posted November 9, 2005 Report Posted November 9, 2005 Put the MAC address into your WiFi setting on your router
Guest fraser Posted November 11, 2005 Report Posted November 11, 2005 OK, here's what to do. Download a util called "vxIpConfig" and run it. Check the ip address you are getting. If it takes ages to get one, and it's a 169.x.x.x address, then the link isn't working and you aren't getting a DHCP address. The most likely problem is encrytion. Make sure it is off on the router and repeat. Once you have it working, be sure to reenable it, using whatever options that both devices support. If you are getting a real IP address, then you need to check the routing. Download "vxUtil" and use the ping or traceroute utils to hit www.google.com. The error it reports will tell you a lot more that the shot-in-the-dark, ususually incorrect "it's probably your proxy" message that you are seeing. Post back your results. WiFi can be a nightmare to set up if you don't know what you are doing, it's not very intuative and the errors are usually poor (if you are lucky to get one!).
