Guest Labyrinth Posted June 27, 2005 Report Posted June 27, 2005 My phone has been fine for months but now sometimes when i type a message and press 'send', it will not send the message. It does not even acknowledge that i have pressed the button. To send it i have to turn my phone off and on again then type it all again. has this happened to anyone else? what should i do? it's a motorola mpx220
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted June 27, 2005 Report Posted June 27, 2005 A possible cause is that you could be running low on either Physical memory or Storage on the phone. Using a Task Manager app (I prefer Binarys version for this) when this happens next and before rebooting the phone see what ste system status is of your phone.
Guest Disco Stu Posted June 27, 2005 Report Posted June 27, 2005 If you press Ctrl-Alt-Delete (together, be careful to only do it once) on your PC you will start up Windows Task Manager. Most Smartphones these days have one preinstalled but Binarys' version is still the best. It gives you a lot of info about what your phone is actually doing. 1. Applications running. Tells you what software is running. This is how to find out what is going on in the background taking up resources. Pocket IE & WMP are apps that get 'minimised' rather than shut down. You can bring them to the front or stop them completely. 2. Procxesses running. A bit more technical. Shows you what is using up memory in more detail. Don't shut down processes unless you are sure of what they are. 3. System info. Gives you the stats of how much memory is in use / free on the phone and storage card. Also gives battery readings. The most important reading os Storage (Flash) memory and this is what Awarner suggests you should keep an eye on. Of a total of 27.98MB, I have 17.44MB free which is pretty healthy. HTH :)

Guest Labyrinth Posted June 28, 2005 Report Posted June 28, 2005 1.1_en.cab 48 Kb English version. CAB file to be installed on the phone. Setup_en.exe 498 Kb English version. Installer to be run on Windows. which one do i do? CAB or t'other?
Guest Disco Stu Posted June 28, 2005 Report Posted June 28, 2005 Apart from the way it installs, makes not a ha'p'orth of difference. The exe file will put a cab file on your phone for you and then run it automatically. Cab file, you do the hard work ! If you're unsure of how to install either, click on the 'First 48 Hours' link in my sig.
