Guest En_croute Posted June 27, 2005 Report Posted June 27, 2005 Can the MDA Compact / Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition sync with a Hotmail http Account ? I'm suprised the Auto config does not work. Adding the http:// details (copied form Outlook Express) does not seem to work. Any ideas - do you have to / can you use a 3rd party messaging App ?
Guest TigerNet Posted June 27, 2005 Report Posted June 27, 2005 ...I think you need to use pop3 settings, which is a benefit of being a MoDaCo plus member...not sure if there's another way... Cheers Nick

Cheers Nick <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Not sure what you mean - Hotmail does not support POP3, it's an HTTP only mail service. Obviously It can be accessed by Explorer, but this has to be connected to write a mail, and mails cannot be downloaded for later review. T-Mobile say it cannot be done in messaging - so presumably this will require 3rd party software. Unless anyone else knows better.......
Guest chrisbpr Posted June 28, 2005 Report Posted June 28, 2005 personnaly i found it to be a nightmare to send/recive hotmail on any mobile device & there is only 3rd party sw availible to do the job. i find it inredible that mirosoft dont support this , i went to 1and1 & setup my own pop3 server..much more reliable & hasnt let me down ( yet!!!)
Guest MitchellO Posted June 28, 2005 Report Posted June 28, 2005 The sheer inaccessability of hotmail turned me off using it. I check it maybe every 2-3weeks, just to clear out junk. GMail is sooooo much better.
Guest Wozbacca Posted June 29, 2005 Report Posted June 29, 2005 and gmail now works in pocket ie! which is even better!
Guest MitchellO Posted June 29, 2005 Report Posted June 29, 2005 I haven't tried GMail on PIE since they release the new basic version. I use the builtin Messaging, so found no need.
Guest dragomia Posted July 28, 2005 Report Posted July 28, 2005 You can use HTTPMail Provider for this (http://www.pocketgear.com/software_detail.asp?id=9539)
