4294967295 voicemails! WTF!

I think the title for my previous post on this topic was misleading, so I'll try again. I'm not sure what happened, but I'm experiencing two very strange problems with my Audiovox SMT5600 running WinMobile 2k3 SE. The phone is only days old, no drops, and scanned for all known viruses. Anyway, problem 1, xBar2 reports 50% memory usage off a fresh restart, which by itself is highly suspect. On top of this, Task Manager is reporting 10,704 Kb free, where it used to only report around 6,000 Kb or so.

Then the messaging plugin is reporting 4294967295 new voicemails, when the number should be closer to, oh i dunno, ZERO. Apparently this number equals 0xFFFFFFFF which I assume is the max that the software can represent for this particular variable. I called Cingular and the rep said that she would reset the voicemail counter on their end, but I'm kind of doubting that will fix the problem.

Ideas: Maybe the outrageously high voicemail count is responsible for the memory drain somehow? That may be a stretch, but who knows with Microsoft. Also, I should add that this problem began after the Richie M alarm plugin crashed my phone for the 5th or 6th time. It had been giving me partial lockups, where a few buttons worked, but this time it was a full lockup. In any case the only way I could recover from these was by disconnecting the battery and then restarting.

SO. Any ideas, thoughts, comments, help, advice, direction, pointers, etc, etc, would be a huge help. Also, let me know if you think I should reimage the device. Is that what you mean by 'hard reset'? I have all my data backed up, but I'm reluctant to do it if there's an easier solution.

Thanks for taking the time to read this.

The mesage plugi is a fault in the pluginwhich no one has ever bothered to fix! Its been that way since the e200. So unfortunately no fix there I'm afraid.

The xbar/memory thing is usaul, and nothing to be alarmed about. My C500 powers up from cold with around 40% free memory, which gradually decreases until I next reboot - it doesn't greatly affect the use of the phone. In my experience Xbar is not to be trusted when reading RAM, mine often says I have about 75% free, when smartmonitor & task manager both say around 30%.

Large numbers in the voice mail counter has been an old problem but I have not seen it in a very long time and have now forgotten the fix for it (other than a hard reset).

As for the memory drain you do not actually have a memory drain as you can cosider yourself lucky as 50% of physical memory is very good the most I can get is 43% and 9.36MB free.

As for virus checks there are no known viruses for the Smartphone at the moment.
