Guest scriptor Posted June 29, 2005 Report Posted June 29, 2005 hey I was wondering if there is anyway that I could maybe set up a dial up connection so that my mpx200 would dial a number for some network and then send it to the computer since it can serve as a modem. or I heard theres a way which I already tried a millon of times and I am out of luck, the way is to set the modem as dial up the number *99# with no pass or username and then set the connection to +CGDCONT=1,"wap.voicestream.com","","",0,0 but unfortunately I am outof luck. if you guys ever tried doing this with tmobile please let me know I am in a need of having internet from my phone to my laptop even if it takes me to dial a numbr and use it as my minutes just so I can be online. thank you very much. I appriciate it.
Guest xda-rocks Posted June 29, 2005 Report Posted June 29, 2005 How do i use the phone as an USB Modem? 1. Open Active Sync, choose File -> Connection Properties and uncheck the USB box, this stops Active Sync trying to sync the phone with Outlook. 2. Now take your phone off its cradle, go to Start -> Accessories and Modem Link. 3. Change the Connection to USB and then choose Menu (soft key) and activate. Now place the phone in the cradle. Windows will display that it has found new hardware. Allow it to produce the Wizard Menu, choose next and the choose specify location. Insert the CD that came with the phone and choose next. It will then ask you whether you want to continue etc. Keep going until you reach the end of the wizard. 3. Now you have the modem installed and can configure it. 4. Go to Start -> Settings -> Control Panel and Choose Phone and Modem options, choose the HTC USB Modem and choose Properties and Advanced. In the initialisation String box use the following: +CGDCONT=1,"wap.voicestream.com" 4. Now create a new dial up connection, the phone number is *99# and ensure that the only modem that is selected is the HTC USB Modem, it will try to use any modem already listed - uncheck them. (Note: no username and password is required). 5. Now dial up. 6. You can re-enable Active Sync after installation. When u wish to use the phone as a USB Modem remove it from the cradle and activate the Mode Link and place it back in the cradle, Active Sync wont start and instead you will be in modem mode. It is not possible to use the phone as a USB Modem with Win 98 / SE / ME unfortunately.
Guest scriptor Posted June 29, 2005 Report Posted June 29, 2005 hmm gives me an error "628 the connection was terminated by remote computer" what type of settings do I need to gave on my gprs setings on my phone?
Guest tendomentis Posted June 29, 2005 Report Posted June 29, 2005 You are probably getting that error because you are trying to connect to the WAP gateway in modem mode. You have to have an unlimited internet plan to use your phone as a modem with T-Mobile. You connection gateway would then be internet.voicestream.com or internet2.voicestream.com
