Guest Wozbacca Posted June 29, 2005 Report Posted June 29, 2005 hello all, ive been getting a bit annoyed with my m2000 recently necause sometimes accessing some of the items on the screen can be a bit fiddly. is it possible to redesign the home screens to turn it into a grid rather than a column of buttons... so for example, you could easily select things with your thumb rather than getting the stylus out. how does everyone else feel about it? is it possible? after seeing some of the themes for the smartphone platform, this must be doable!
Guest Disco Stu Posted June 29, 2005 Report Posted June 29, 2005 I have remapped the voice notes button to fire up the Start menu on my Jam. I can then scroll my way around the menus using the directional pad, whether they appear in list or grid format. Have you looked at something like Spb Plus ? You can customise the Today screen and put whatever program icons you want on there.
Guest vijay555 Posted July 5, 2005 Report Posted July 5, 2005 You might also want to look into adding a numeric value in the registry for each Today Plugin that doesn't already have it - Name= "Selectability", value = 1 Then you can scroll up/down with the dpad to highlight the plugin, and pressing enter will simulate a keypress. Much easier for some plugins, but PocketPC is way behind Smartphone for one handed use. Consider using SmallMenuPlus. I've written code to allow me to dial from the commandline/shortcuts, so I can dial favorites and start sms'es one handed. V

Hey I've tried this for Claunch, but it doesn't seem to work... what registry key should i be using, and in what part? Thanks
Guest vijay555 Posted September 30, 2005 Report Posted September 30, 2005 Hey I've tried this for Claunch, but it doesn't seem to work... what registry key should i be using, and in what part? Thanks <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Selectability will make little difference to claunch, since it only emulates clicking in one place (top left I think), so it will always just click the very left most icon. If that's what you want, go into HK_Local_Machine>Software> Microsoft>Today>Items>cLaunch and add a "Number value" of Selectability, value 1. What you need is something quite different though really for one handed use. Look into something like Wisbar Desktop Advance or PPX and set up a screen of icons and today plugins. Not the neatest solution, but it can't be done natively by the PPC since the today screen itself consists of a vertical stack of independant plugins - they can be moved around more precisely with some hackery, but to little benefit since they all default to the screen's width of 240 (qvga) so some of your plugin will be off screen. Have a look here http://www.modaco.com/TodayButton-t229269.html for another "one handed" usability tool I wrote. V
