Guest VodkaShot Posted June 29, 2005 Report Posted June 29, 2005 According to the specs it should be 32 ROM and 64 RAM, but in the About it says the following: Avalable Storage: 24.01 Total Storage: 27.98 Available Memory: 4.07 Total Memory: 21.68 Doesn't look like 64. Which one is RAM and ROM? Also, how to determine, how much RAM is free. Is there a flash ROM area that is available for user?
Guest smeg36 Posted June 29, 2005 Report Posted June 29, 2005 According to the specs on the i-mate website, it actually has 64MB ROM and 32MB RAM. What you have to remember is the OS is stored on that 64MB of ROM. And part of the 32MB of RAM is used to run the phone, so it will be in use anytime you power the phone on. I'm not exacly sure, but I think the Available and Total Storage refers to the ROM left after the OS takes up its portion. And the Available and Total Memory is the RAM. I could be wrong though, I have never been really clear on the memory management system of Smartphones.
Guest Madeye Posted June 30, 2005 Report Posted June 30, 2005 Also try task manager - menu - system info for available RAM (i think :) )
Guest VodkaShot Posted June 30, 2005 Report Posted June 30, 2005 (edited) According to the specs on the i-mate website, it actually has 64MB ROM and 32MB RAM. Sorry, you are right, it's the other way around :) Madaye, thanks for the hint. The task manager is a bit more clear on what's what, but still it doesn't add-up to 64ROM/32 RAM. Here's what it says: Memory Information Total Memory: 23.14 Storage Memory: 1.46 Used: 0.54 Free: 0.95 Program Memory: 21.68 Used: 14.07 Free: 7.62 Flash Information: Storage (Flash): 27.98 Used: 4.64 Free: 23.34 I'm really confused on what to make of all of this? What do your devices read? Edited June 30, 2005 by VodkaShot
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted July 2, 2005 Report Posted July 2, 2005 The memory used by the actual OS is not displayed, I would not worry about the phone's apec as such it's more important to look at what you can use. I prefer Task Manager from www.binarys.com for memory status as it's easier to understand. Post moved to Help and Advice
