Guest chrisbpr Posted June 30, 2005 Report Posted June 30, 2005 Yes TomTom 5 with the TomTom 5 Receiver :) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>thanks..what i was after was a stand alone reciver as being a tight git a dont really want to spend out on the tom-tom
Guest celica1.8st Posted June 30, 2005 Report Posted June 30, 2005 I think TomTom Works out as one of the cheapest options. If you go out and buy a GPS receiver then you need to buy some software as well then it will soon be expensive. Also at this time you cannot buy tomtom without a gps receiver. Not sure about the other software makes though. Back to your question though - All of the Fortuna range of GPS Receivers are very high quality. I think they actually make the receivers for TomTom. The Fortuna Clip On Receivers are very good

Guest agdmwilson Posted June 30, 2005 Report Posted June 30, 2005 Have just bought CoPilot and love it Bought seperate Pretec GPS as has a better processor in it apparently ??!? Also had to buy bigger Mini SD card to hold European maps and a card reader. Copilot £130 Maps upgrade £100 GPS £75 ish 512MB Mini SD £50 reader £ 17 All adds up but works so well
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted July 1, 2005 Report Posted July 1, 2005 My fortuna clipon was good until it decided to die for no apparent reason :) It powers on and can be bonded etc but will not work with any GPS software. I have found that the TomTom GPS unit was actually more reliable than the fortuna one and the latest version that comes with TTM5 should be even better.
