HELP! Movies on Smartphone

I've read the threads on how to get movies onto your smartphone and have succeeded in doing so but only once! I have 'Withnail & I' on my 512Mb card, taking up about 130Mb but when I go through the same procedure with other films, e.g. The Matrix, or The Crow, using PocketDivX and Betaplayer the process usually stops after a few seconds, or if it does continue then when I transfer the file to my SPV C500 the image appears as multicoloured squares, similar to when you see a digital TV signal with interference.

Can anyone give me any tips as to what I might be doing wrong? Do the newer DVDs having some kind of security on them that causes this?

I have been able to put all films on my c500. to rip the DVD I use pocketdvd and then use betaplayer on the phone (AVI file). Normal rippers are for use on more powerful systems laptop etc. and the phone/PDA isn't powerful enough to run the movie. I have the matrix on my phone and the file size is 190mb.

I have always had trouble with PocketDivX so never use it.

Hope this helps.

How strange. I've been using PocketDIVX encoder for ages, its all I use now and I never have any trouble with it.

Have you tried the latest version?

No, but I may as well give it another go.

Cheers
