Anyone know how to stop the C500 from making that loud bell-like noise when you press and hold the # key to get the symbol page up when editing a text message.

I can't find a setting for this anywhere and it doesn't seem possible to let go of the key before it starts making the noise.

cheers

Jon

The kind of stuff you're probably looking for and haven't found is the following:

Start -> Settings -> Profile -> Menu -> Edit

There you'll find things you probably expected to find on the sound settings screen.

Doesn't do it in the 4.2.1.1 ROM.

I get what you mean now - yes if I turn the system sound down to zero then it isn't a problem, but I was hoping there might be a way to change the sound associated with that action by itself.

Is there a ROM update available to 4.2.1.1 then - mine reports 4.1.1.4?

cheers

you could also try opening the "symbols" menu by holding the asterisk (*) and selecting Symbols.. it's one more keypress but you don't get the noise and keep all the other system sounds working..
