Guest Kinch Posted July 2, 2005 Report Posted July 2, 2005 Hello, I have the C500 and obviously it was on Orange, but now i use it on Vodafone. Is there any way to "unbrand" it from it saying ORANGE in various places, such as when placing a call. Cheers
Guest Marcos_ Posted July 2, 2005 Report Posted July 2, 2005 You mean, like unlocking it? As i want to know this too Im going to buy an Orange c500 but i want to use it on o2
Guest Transform Posted July 2, 2005 Report Posted July 2, 2005 kinch, you have to change the registry settings to get rid of things like this although im not sure what you have to do. your best waiting for a mod to reply or something. marcos, there is sim unlock avaiable for the c500 because like yourself im on o2 with the c500. have a search on the forum for sim unlock on the c500. i think its on here somewhere.

I was told the c500 can be unlocked for free so i certainly wasn't expecting to pay over 10% of the phone price just to unlock it
Guest Transform Posted July 2, 2005 Report Posted July 2, 2005 hmm im not sure then. my c500 came unlocked but maybe you should ask a mod.

You can change these images yourself by altering the registry but you can also find some homescreen themes that include extra screens like the in call one. Information on registry changes can be found here http://www.modaco.com/Registry_Tweaks-t7695.html

As for the above posts, cheers, but i have already unlocked it, just want to get rid or the ORANGE bits that are pre-installed on it. My main gripe is the screen which looks like a sunset and says ARAGNE on it when you start the phone up. Wish i could get rid of it all. Ta :) Edited July 4, 2005 by Kinch
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted July 4, 2005 Report Posted July 4, 2005 The Orange sunset is part of the ROM and would require it to be hacked to alter that image.

Guest mossywell Posted July 4, 2005 Report Posted July 4, 2005 Off the top of my head, the Orange-specific stuff is as follows: - Orange sunset at boot up: ROM (editable with one of the spv developer tools) - Orange sunset at shutdown - an image file pointed to in the registry - GPRS / WAP / MMS etc settings on data Connections - Whole load of guff in the IE favourites - The Orange folder from the start menu - The little Orange bar at the top when in a call (definitely editable, but I can't remember how - probably in the regisrty somewhere) - The Orange voicemail shortcuts under the 1 button - The Orange home screen - The Orange logo on the phone's fascia (no idea how to get this off without scuffing the phone!) I'm sure that there are others. HTH M

Guest moonshot Posted July 5, 2005 Report Posted July 5, 2005 Hi Yes I know what you mean, there is a way to "unbrand" it from it saying ORANGE. I read how to do it, on this site a few days ago. Sorry but I am not sure where on this site I was looking at the time. I think it may have been in a TIP section. May be some one can point you in the right direction.
