Guest Elfeh Posted July 3, 2005 Report Posted July 3, 2005 Hello, I'm new here. Great site btw wish I'd found it sooner. I have an Orange SPV C500 & I am currently on my 3rd Phone! Ive read through a fair number of posts & not been able to find my particular bug which seems odd to me as its occured on more than one handset, apologies if it has already been raised. Not due to dust although I have noticed on both my previous phones this problem developed. My first C500 lasted about 20 days, after which it refused to switch off. I would power it down either by the power key or throught the quick menu & when it had finished powering down it would restart. Effectively unless I wanted to reboot the phone I had to remove the battery to switch it off. At the same time as this power off fault made itself apparent the battery life more than halved. Standby would last approx 10 hours from approx 24 or so. Orange tried all sorts of solutions but in the end replaced the handset under the 28 guarantee. I was resonably happy with this soloution as I love the phone itself. However after another 6 weeks the new handset developed the exact same fault. I went through the same reset procedure I had tried on my previous phone to no avail & I am now on my 3rd handset. Obviously Im not keen on this happening again, so any ideas? Is this a known problem with original firmware or is there a rogue program or virus that could be causing this problem? As an aside are there a couple of plants making these handsets as both my 1st & 3rd phones were / are very solid feeling sleek devices, the 2nd seemed a bit tacky the finish wasn't as good & it felt far less solid. Many thanks in advance for any ideas.
