application unlocking/rom trouble smt5600

Ok i'm trying to appliacation unlock my At&t smt 5600 when following the instructions it looks like I need to have a newer rom then what I have to get my phone unlocked??? there is no way to app unlock my phone withoug upgrading the rom?

I dont mind upgrading the rom so much its just I cant freaking find it! I have looked all over torrets etc I find it but no seeders. If anyone can tell me another way to get my phone unlocked I would really appreciate it. there are some really cool themes I want to run that use plugins but none of them will install.

Another question the rom for the c500 orange phone will work find on my smt 5600 correct? I'm using the phone on T-mobile in the usa if that makes any diffrence thanks for the help in advance
