Guest Hardz Posted July 5, 2005 Report Posted July 5, 2005 I've got a problem using PocketDivXEncoder because towards the end of the process, I get the following message: "couldn't locate decompressor for format 'xvid' (unknown) virtualdub requires a video for windows (VFW) compatible codec to decompress video. DirectShow codecs, such as those used by windows media player, are not suitable." I'm using windows XP and have virtualdub and xvid, so I don't know what else to do ? thanks.
Guest martin Posted July 5, 2005 Report Posted July 5, 2005 What file are you trying to compress ? Have you tried compressing any other files ?
Guest Hardz Posted July 6, 2005 Report Posted July 6, 2005 The file is an archos produced .avi that i want to crop and resize. The stable version of PocketDivXEncoder will do the job of resizing and the output file is great, but when I try to crop the file, the stable version crashes. The unstable version will crop and resize the file and produce a good output file using IVTC but when I want to use xvid instead of IVTC, the above message appears. Any idea what the problem could be ?
