Guest killer6993 Posted July 5, 2005 Report Posted July 5, 2005 Alright I have an Audiovox SMT 5600. I have no changed or adjusted the ROM. This problem is only recent and just seems to have happened. When I first start the phone it will go into 'Headset' profile. If I try changing this to anything else it will stay showing Headset. Even though phone calls work normally. Remember no headset is plugged in. Also this problem seems to be happening most of the time. After a call it will switch to Speakerphone and stay there. Even though the Speakerphone is not actually on. I've tried switching to normal while on a call also. Any ideas why the profile wouldnt be updating?
Guest chucky.egg Posted July 5, 2005 Report Posted July 5, 2005 There's a known problem with the headset socket (apparently) which means that you have to jiggle the headset jack around in the socket to make it come out of Headset profile, but that doesn't explain the Speakerphone profile issue I'd suggest a backup and a Hard Reset, failing that get it replaced
Guest killer6993 Posted July 5, 2005 Report Posted July 5, 2005 This didnt start happening because the headset was plugged in though. It just went all on it's own.
Guest killer6993 Posted July 18, 2005 Report Posted July 18, 2005 Still having these troubles. Anyone have an idea?
Guest thebrit80 Posted July 25, 2005 Report Posted July 25, 2005 Still having these troubles. Anyone have an idea? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Killer - I am having the same problem. I just got my phone replaced about a week ago. My new phone started with this issue after only a few days. It will go back and forth between Headset and Speaker phone -- but I do use my headset all the time on the subway - so perhaps I have loosened some connection.

Guest richard_hogg Posted July 28, 2005 Report Posted July 28, 2005 Happened to me.. I managed to fix it by sticking the headset in about halfway and then out again until it sorted itself. Has been fine since.
Guest giove Posted July 28, 2005 Report Posted July 28, 2005 hi richard_hogg, thanks for your reply. I've tried it and it didn't work. I found this link on the site which is very useful for this particular problem: http://www.coolsmartphone.com/index.php?op...tid=58&Itemid=3 The bit that helped me was the suggestion below, although I used some oil i use for my clipper machine :?: ?!?! >I tried the suggestions on this website but none worked, and then I had the idea to apply a little bit of oil (WD40 will do) to the jack plug, wiping most of it off and then inserting it into the socket. >By rotating the plug a few times, the lubricant seems to either free up the stuck switch or improve the electrical conductivity but either way my phone immediately switches back to 'Normal' profile upon removing the jack. cheers giove
Guest killer6993 Posted July 28, 2005 Report Posted July 28, 2005 Alright I've updated my rom from the ATT (Cingular) to the Orange rom. I use Tmobile, but have the orange rom. Everything does work now. Try doing a software reset, and a hardware reset. That's what I think did it.
Guest uzi_999 Posted July 31, 2005 Report Posted July 31, 2005 happened to me, i know how to fix it - give it a hard reset and then torture yourself installing all your apps and games again!!
