Guest Scotty89uk Posted July 5, 2005 Report Posted July 5, 2005 well i am going to unlock my spv c500, just wondering if there is anythingi shud no before unlocking it, and like some other spvs is there a temporary free way. Finally, i am unlocking it to put a 02 genie card in it, will the genie card work, and work over in america? :??:
Guest Transform Posted July 6, 2005 Report Posted July 6, 2005 there is a free way to unlock but i cant find the website. i use o2 in the uk on a c500. not sure about america though.
Guest Disco Stu Posted July 6, 2005 Report Posted July 6, 2005 C500 SIM-unlocking for free here : http://www.modaco.com/C500_SimLock_Togglin...00-t207545.html I'd check o2's website for international roaming issues. You will still probably have to phone o2 customer services to switch the service on so you could just phone them.
Guest Scotty89uk Posted July 7, 2005 Report Posted July 7, 2005 thanx for your help, but one more question, is it temporary or pernament unlocking? :)
Guest Disco Stu Posted July 7, 2005 Report Posted July 7, 2005 I've no idea, but the 'toggling' description suggests it is reversible and repeatable
Guest rilazi Posted July 7, 2005 Report Posted July 7, 2005 Disco Stu, what about m500, I got it unlocked and I'm in Serbia. How can I unlock?/ Please HELP
Guest usdiver Posted July 8, 2005 Report Posted July 8, 2005 Scotty, I'd go with www.imei-check.co.uk for the unlocking. £20 by paypal for the unlock key file... it is permanent, and goes deeper into the software than the orange one. There are bennefits well worth £20.00. I am on o2, with the genie card and I'm very happy with it. As far as america goes... what I personally would do is unlock the phone via imei check. You need to check operator frequencies in america as even though the c500 is tri band, here in the uk, we use 900, 1800, and 1900 (someone, anyone, please correct me if I'm wrong)... American operators operate on 850, 900, and 1900. Rather than paying out the nose for o2 roaming, you are better off going to america, and purchasing a pay as you go card there and topping up. as you know, on american networks, they charge you for airtime...so you might pay as much as .50 cents a minute (max I would say), both outgoing and incoming. Roaming will cost much more than that...incoming and outgoing. Depending on what state and areas you are traveling too, depends on what network you should go with. In general, At & t cover most areas, then cingular, not sure about the others. But just ask about a gsm prepaid sim card. Hope this helps. A bit of messing around but will be much cheaper in the long run.
Guest Scotty89uk Posted July 8, 2005 Report Posted July 8, 2005 thanx usdiver for the detailed account! I appreciate it, your idea seems better, I will probably just imei check, cos then I can put the rom update with WMP10, without the hassel of waiting and looking for the uk version to be realeased! It probably will be cheaper in the long run to buy a US pay as you go as well. Thanx again :)
Guest usdiver Posted July 8, 2005 Report Posted July 8, 2005 no problem...just glad I can help...if you need any other information that I can help with just let me know.
Guest usdiver Posted July 8, 2005 Report Posted July 8, 2005 I almost forgot... you won't be able to get the wm10, new uk rom update, till it is released, or unless you send it in to htc.
