I suppose I should be happy that I am so close to my upgrade at the time O are about to release their latest Windows selection C550 and M500.

I have owned SPV, E100, XDA2 and now I have a C500 which is a great phone. It has served me well. Now it is starting to show some heavy battle scars and failing in its every days tasks like being able to talk to others ie mic and/or earphone doesnt always work.

So, you can tell I'm pretty eager to get a new and working phone.

My problem is I dont know what phone to get the C550 or M500 or even dare I say it a non Windows device.

My biggest problem with the pocket PC form was the size and the need to use the stylus to get texting. I understand that has been cleared up and you can use the old phone dialler UI to type like you would on a phone. I do like the smartphone UI aswell (well I am used to its flaws and impressed with its features) but I really dont see the point in moving to the C550 for a better phone it will just be like getting a repaired C500. I have a Creative Zen Micro so dont really care about MP3 player ability and Dont really use the scheduling as much as others.

Im confused! :)

Does anybody else have either of these or have seen or used one and give me some idea of how they compare or if they are any good!

I am in a similar situation. I can upgrade in a few weeks time but don't fancy the C550 as I have an MP3 player, the M500 looks like it is a bit big for my liking and other than that only the Nokia 6680 is at all appealing. I just want a phone that has email and full HTML/xHTML browsing capabilities, can syncronise easily with my PC and preferably has 3G. I haven't seen anything on the horizon that really

looks like it ticks all my boxes, so I am stuck also.

Yeah sounds about right! or the 6630! But you can only browse the content provided by the operator with the current 3g phones cant you! I held a 6680 the other day and personally I would go for M500 over one of those, they feel real big and uncomfortable!!

Remember M500 is only a centimetre wider that is not a lot basically a cross between my C500 and my Zen Micro in size!!

M500/M2000 - even though it kinda defeats the purpose of a smartphone (the style of it is more like a PDA) - it ships with WM 2005 as with the C550 it does not and has those extra hot keys and comes with the latest orange ROM (not upgradable for C500)

i'm using the M500, it's a great little phone/PPC. doesn't ship with WM2005 though... does have MP10, which is nice.

i also have a C500, the M500 beats it hands down on everything, with the exception of call quality and fast texting.

i'm well chuffed with mine :)

How do you find it for size? Do you feel like a berk holding it to the side of your hide (I know its not THAT big............)?

i don't feel any burkiness at all, the only thing i don't like about it is the fact that on a warm day, that big screen can get a bit sweaty against your face... needs to be cleaned after each call.

but no, i think the phone looks so smart, i don't feel stupid holding it to my head :)

How bad is the GPRS bug in use?

to be honest it's quite irritating, for example, when i want to post on modaco from the phone, i get to the site ok, find the post i want, hit reply but when typing out what i want to say, the GPRS disconnects and about 50% of the time it can't reconnect on the first try, sometimes it can take 4 or 5 attempts, sometimes it wont connect at all. i'm hoping there'll be a fix available soon...

but i think overall it's a small issue with an otherwise great phone. i'm still using my C500 with a different sim but only because i get 300 texts per month... this is my first ever PPC and i am so totally impressed with everything it can do, i'm not sure that i would consider renewing/upgrading my smartphone contract when the time comes.
