Guest soup dragon Posted July 6, 2005 Report Posted July 6, 2005 OK, I'm fed up with Orange now. I'm thinking about going to T-Mobile and getting a free MDA Compact. My only problem is that they have no coverage in one place I spend a fair amount of time. Can I unlock the MDA so that I can use a Voda or Orange PAYG sim? Anything else I need to know about T-Mobile before I decide - any downsides? I've been with Orange for a fair number of years!
Guest Uisdean Posted July 6, 2005 Report Posted July 6, 2005 Yes you can... T-Mobile will even give you the unlock code for something like £15. You have to have been with them for a month before they'll give it to you though (that seems to be the official line, but I think some people got it straight away... guess it depends who you get through to on the phone!) Or you can get it from the gents at http://www.imei-check.co.uk/ who'll do the job for £20. I've never actually used my T-Mobile sim yet... it just worked out cheaper buying it from them than getting it sim free!
Guest jonhitch Posted July 7, 2005 Report Posted July 7, 2005 Worth shopping around. I unlocked my Nokia 6100 for £2.99 at the end of last year. That was after being told it would cost £20 for Orange to do it!
Guest Zim Posted July 14, 2005 Report Posted July 14, 2005 There is now a free unlock tool from xda-developers, here is the link, worked on my mda compact :) so give it a try http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic....der=asc&start=0 "Z"
Guest MitchellO Posted July 18, 2005 Report Posted July 18, 2005 Nice! MY phone was never locked to a carrier (Bought it outright), but this would be great for anyone who is locked.
