Guest machiavell1 Posted July 6, 2005 Report Posted July 6, 2005 (edited) Should I store my new apps on the phone's memory or on the mini-SD? I know the more I store on the phone, the more chance there is of memory shortage and therefore lag/crashing, but are there certain apps (ie calendar/homescreens/functionality apps) that HAVE to be on the phone or should be on the phone for optimum performance? Basically, I want to keep the phone running at optimum lag free speed and crashing as little as possible, and would appreciate any tips or advice on how to achieve this (both in respect of app storage, but also general tips). Additionally - do the number of contacts you store and the calendar information bog down the phone? and is there a way to limit this also? Thanks!! Edited July 6, 2005 by machiavell1

Guest awarner [MVP] Posted July 6, 2005 Report Posted July 6, 2005 Ideally you should install all applications etc on to the storage card, this will help to keep the phone's memory free for your emails, homescreens and ringtones etc. There are only a few apps that must be installed on the phone's memory.
Guest Madeye Posted July 6, 2005 Report Posted July 6, 2005 As a rule I install everything on my miniSD, I haven't come across many things that have to be installed on the phone, but I'm sure if you do find anything it will tell you in the readme. Either that or it just won't work, then you can come on here, search, and find out that it has to be installed on the phone! Like I said, I have probably 40 - 50 apps / games installed on my storage card, but I put homescreens on the phone itself.
Guest chrisbpr Posted July 7, 2005 Report Posted July 7, 2005 i am running mapping & gps software from the sd card & the speed is fine

If so, how do you configure this? Thanks.
Guest Lobojpm Posted August 2, 2005 Report Posted August 2, 2005 Hm- yes I was wondering that too. I took a look through the menus under text messaging and e-mails, and didn't see an option to store that on the storage card. Maybe there is a trick, or reg hack, or 3rd party software? Lobojpm
