Guest amo Posted July 6, 2005 Report Posted July 6, 2005 (edited) Hey fellow MoDaCo'ers, Just received this weeks trading focus document at work, and can confirm the SPV C550 will be launched next week (approx Wednesday 13th July). Most Orange Retail stores get their delivery Wednesdays, however some receiving two deliveries (one on Friday also) so make sure you get to the stores then! As most of you know, we've had the dummy handsets in for some time now so you all have the chance to check out the size and weighting before committing to the purchase. The C550 WILL also be launching on PAYG soon after its contract release! The Official prices will be as follows (both for new contract and upgrades): Line rental below £24.99 - Cost of phone: £129.99 Line rental £25 and above - Cost of phone: £Free! On a side note, the M500 will be available only within business stores - on a standard £25 per month contract the cost of this device is only £99!!! Edited July 15, 2005 by amo
Guest mavisdavis Posted July 6, 2005 Report Posted July 6, 2005 Cool Ive called today and OCS didnt have a clue what I was inquiring about :) And so much for existing cutomers. They quoted me over £80 to upgrade even tho my average bill is just under £100 (and I mean pennies under £100) and line rental including extras is over £40 :D So I guess its a new contract for me call 343 (existing cutomers only) and quote me sad :D

My C550 has been pre-ordrered (assurance that retentions dept have priority) and that phone could be dispatched as soon as monday next week. All free. With credit to cover two BT headsets - oh and a free D500 for the missus! Good old Orange - it takes a few calls and a request for reference numbers to port to other networks - but they always come up trumps - for me anyway !!! Now what shall I do with this C500, less than 12 months old ...........................

I'll see what I can do though and get back to you with some details :)

I ordered mine last Sunday (03/07) and the order status changed to 'complete' on the following Monday. However, when it didn't arrive by Thursday I called them and was told that they didn't even have the handset in stock...

I was expecting the C550 yesterday, but it didn't arrive. So I phoned them and spoke to a very nice chap who seemed to know what he was talking about. Stock is being released this week. I had a feeling they were taking orders before they actually had stock....but you never know!!! Couple of days and we should have them, and we are still getting it for ££££ less than you can exepct elsewhere.

They could not provide any tech either - processor speed, memory onboard, which version of WMP it has or if the improvements in the C500 update are included in C550's OS. Does anyone know the answers to these points?

THAT IS ALL :-) So it is a very good question if an upgrade is worth for those who have already a C500... Remember it will not be a long time until the M5000 will be available :-) Sven
