Guest timrhodgson Posted July 6, 2005 Report Posted July 6, 2005 (edited) Do you ever wish you hadn't started something. I have an SPV C500, Orange version but unlocked and working on O2. Working through some of the posts on this site, I upgraded my ROM to the Qtek 2.1.32.11. This completed successfully but . . . I now get 'Data Crashes' and cannot connect. I have tried reverting to a previous ROM version, but think this is falling foul of the Orange software signing. Since I cannot connect, I cannot complete this. I have tried using the immediate flash option to install a new boot loader, but this crashes out when I try to flash with an XP application crash. Following another thread elsewhere, I have tried the ResetRAPIPolicy tool, but of course I need to run this on my phone, and I cannot get any access because of the 'Data Crashes' message. Even tried copying this to Storage\windows\Startup without success. Aarrghhh! So, unless anyone has some tremendous wisdom here to help - I can't suss this one out. Any ideas from the experts?? Guest timrhodgson Posted July 7, 2005 Report Posted July 7, 2005 Well - have made some progress here - have failed to go back to a new image, but have identified the application that was crashing - actually SIMlock.exe. I can kill this using Pocket Controller. Unfortunately that seems to disable the entire function, so I can't go in and change the settings to see if that clears any data corruption - I cannot find anything on the phone now to set PIN1. Also have no service, so presumably the unlock has been overwritten - or something more arcane going on? So, still confused, but more data....
Guest usdiver Posted July 8, 2005 Report Posted July 8, 2005 is your phone unlocked via imei check? if so should be no problem. I actually installed another questionable rom on mine, and went back to the 4114 due to uncertainty....and worked like a charm. If your problem is that bad....in the worst case, you could send it back to htc, the manufacturer. They would charge you to reflash the rom, but if I'm not mistaken...for £35.00 you'd get the new uk rom update that we are all waiting for. This is what I would do myself. hope this helps
